Westport Golf Course

Play with someone who knows the course just so you don’t lose 3-4 balls on blind tee shots or unexpected bounces (I really wish I had - the yardage book is only somewhat helpful). If you can’t play a draw, you’re out of luck as a large percentage of holes either require or reward that shot shape off the tee.

Majority of holes have significant elevation changes which is different than most courses in the Charlotte area - if you don’t enjoy that style of golf go somewhere else. I switched tee boxes on a couple of par 3’s just to hit more clubs in my bag.

Grass quality is hit or miss - most lies are fine, but it does affect the smoothness of the roll on several greens. Overall still pretty playable.

This is a course for those who enjoy golf and don’t mind some rough edges. I’d play again if I knew I’d be paired with a regular, but will not be frequenting the course.

The golf course conditions were very poor, perhaps from season change perhaps from understaffing but fairways and rough un mowed and greens in bad need of mowing. A lot of bare ground in playing areas. Cart paths in bad shape. Better value around the area for similar price

Westport is my neighborhood course. It is very playable. The greens need a little TLC but it’s not unfair. I expect it will green up pretty nicely as the Bermuda takes off in the summer. Worth the money and the pace of play is as good as anywhere.

Very friendly staff and everything. But the course is definetely in very bad condition. In every sense, the tees, fairways, greens. Cool if you wanna hang out and shoot some balls but definetely not a well mantained course

The course wasn't a bad course at all, especially for the price. The course needs some improvements in terms of the greens. Since the golf season just opened up, I'm assuming the course still needs some time to get the grass to look good, but I definitely didn't think it's worth multiple visits unless you want something cheap and out of the way.

good practice course if you jusr want to hit balls and work on your game, cart path about broke my back.

Course had a good level of challenge but they need to put some time into this place. Some of the greens were pure dirt. I think it’s a little pricey for the conditions of the course. I will play again just for the different elevations on some holes.

I have played this local course over the past 3 yrs, and the conditions were pretty poor. Sparse grass on tee boxes and fairways. The greens look like they were just aerated or they may be changing the grass type. Hard to know since we are between seasons..winter and warmer weather has started and it's been fairly dry. If the owners don't make some changes soon, it will be a cow pasture.

I hope that's not the case as it is a nice layout.

Staff was not very informative. Not much different between fairway and rough.

Westport could be a great course. The layout is challenging but fair. Course conditions in late March were not at all good. Bare mud on poorly marked tees and wet conditions made this a less than picture perfect course. Cart paths are in need of some serious repair in spots. On the other hand, the course distance and elevation booklet was quite good. There was no warm-up area for putting or driving,

This was a low cost day of golf. Nothing wrong with that.

Good layout. Good pace. Only issue was greens were hard as cement.

Fairways had absolutely no grass, greens were infested by crabgrass and so slow. Will not be playing this course again.
