Extremely fun course
The course is extremely fun to play and at a great price. The staff are great and the clubhouse is really laid back and fully stocked with craft beers, snacks and hot dogs.
Course layout was great. Every hole was different. Some holes u have to lay up to avoid water and others have blind shots into the green. The water on the course does come into play only if u pick the wrong club or get too aggressive. Most holes are a little tight and length is average which is rare for a course that's tight with lots of dog legs. So definitely challenging.
Greens are in great shape. Stay below the hole or u will have a hard time avoiding a three putt. Good movement on a number of greens. Bunkers, tee boxes, and fairways were in good shape. A few weeds if that is something that bothers u.
Only con Is that there isn't a driving range but some nets to warm up in.
Overall one of the most enjoyable outings this year. I will definitely be back. It's just freaking fun.
great course
Course was in excellent shape, greens and fairways. First time playing here, but will be coming back again. Used GN app to book for a good rate which was more than well worth the money. Love the layout.. dog legs, water and hills makes the course very challenging for a first time player here.. will shave off 5 strokes when I make a return visit.
Pace of play
The starter and staff did great getting people of the tee and identifying slow groups. However, they did nothing to keep the pace of play moving. When starting the back nine, three groups were waiting to tee off. Did not finish due to not wanting to spend three plus hours just for the back side alone.
Worth the money
Challenging course for long hitters. You won't get many driver shots off the tee box. The course has a lot of dog legs and you have to shape shots of the tee box. Not a hard course, but it is a right course. I'll definitely play it again.
Decent Course for the Price
Pros:
Excellent customer service.
Decent tee-to-green conditions
Challenging from the tips (~6800 yards)
Cons:
Slow greens
No driving range
Blind tee shots = lost balls and slow play
Summary:
If you are looking for a cheaper course to play that offers a somewhat challenging layout, give this a try. There are much nicer courses around the Charlotte area in the same price range.
Good value and well maintained
Staff couldn't be nicer. Course layout is a little quirky but that only adds to the challenge. Once you've played it a couple of times you have a better idea where to hit and clubs to use. You won't use a driver on every hole. Greens are in fantastic shape. Pace of play could be improved especially by walkers on a hilly course. I will play this course a few time per month.
Staff friendliness
We arrived ahead of our schedule and checked in we were informed that because we used gn we HAD to be paired with someone we didn't know
They older guy working in the pro shop was very very rude we ask about a practice area and were snubbed off had to ask 3 times about it
After nine holes we came back in the club house and the older gentleman was gone and the younger staff was very friendly the course was very immaculate though. We loved playing the course and the course was in great shape (could have matched with any on the PGA tour)
I would definitely play the course again but would think twice about using gn to purchase
don't waste your money
Don't waste your money on this course. The greens were the only thing that was decent. Everything else was a joke. I'll never, ever, not in a million years, play this course again and you shouldn't either.
Good course for the price
Will definitely play this course again.
Only complaint is there is no Grill for lunch or even a beverage cart for the course.
During these hot days you better bring your own drinks as well as your own food/snacks.
Why no driving range
The course was in great shape even with the heavy rain last week. The layout of the course is very challenging but fun. We got paired up with another 2some due to the business which is to be expected. The greens where slow at first but did speed up after they dried out from the dew. I will play this course again.
Challenging layout with great greens
The course has been steadily improving since I began playing it about 3 years ago. Still some changes that would vastly improve the appearance of the course (especially the water features), although I know these are extremely costly revisions. Course is gorgeous once it greens up. Challenging layout with many blind shots. Recommend a GPS if first time playing.
Fun Course with the Best Greens Around
Played it 2 days in row, first day was tough as there are numerous blind greens. Doglegs left and right, uphill, downhill, with hazards running through. They had given me a course guide describing the holes, which I totally forgot about in my hurry to get out. Reading that and playing it again made a more enjoyable experience. Being a visitor to NC, I wasn't used to the hilly course management style golf. This course was my favorite out of the 3 other hilly courses I played, with very good fast greens, and in generally better shape. On my list to play again.
Enjoyable round at Westport
Greens are in great shape. A little slow but roll true. It is early in the season and fairways are still greening up but should be great in a few weeks. Overall enjoyable round..!!
