Good value and well maintained
Staff couldn't be nicer. Course layout is a little quirky but that only adds to the challenge. Once you've played it a couple of times you have a better idea where to hit and clubs to use. You won't use a driver on every hole. Greens are in fantastic shape. Pace of play could be improved especially by walkers on a hilly course. I will play this course a few time per month.
Staff friendliness
We arrived ahead of our schedule and checked in we were informed that because we used gn we HAD to be paired with someone we didn't know
They older guy working in the pro shop was very very rude we ask about a practice area and were snubbed off had to ask 3 times about it
After nine holes we came back in the club house and the older gentleman was gone and the younger staff was very friendly the course was very immaculate though. We loved playing the course and the course was in great shape (could have matched with any on the PGA tour)
I would definitely play the course again but would think twice about using gn to purchase
don't waste your money
Don't waste your money on this course. The greens were the only thing that was decent. Everything else was a joke. I'll never, ever, not in a million years, play this course again and you shouldn't either.
Good course for the price
Will definitely play this course again.
Only complaint is there is no Grill for lunch or even a beverage cart for the course.
During these hot days you better bring your own drinks as well as your own food/snacks.
Why no driving range
The course was in great shape even with the heavy rain last week. The layout of the course is very challenging but fun. We got paired up with another 2some due to the business which is to be expected. The greens where slow at first but did speed up after they dried out from the dew. I will play this course again.
Challenging layout with great greens
The course has been steadily improving since I began playing it about 3 years ago. Still some changes that would vastly improve the appearance of the course (especially the water features), although I know these are extremely costly revisions. Course is gorgeous once it greens up. Challenging layout with many blind shots. Recommend a GPS if first time playing.
Fun Course with the Best Greens Around
Played it 2 days in row, first day was tough as there are numerous blind greens. Doglegs left and right, uphill, downhill, with hazards running through. They had given me a course guide describing the holes, which I totally forgot about in my hurry to get out. Reading that and playing it again made a more enjoyable experience. Being a visitor to NC, I wasn't used to the hilly course management style golf. This course was my favorite out of the 3 other hilly courses I played, with very good fast greens, and in generally better shape. On my list to play again.
Enjoyable round at Westport
Greens are in great shape. A little slow but roll true. It is early in the season and fairways are still greening up but should be great in a few weeks. Overall enjoyable round..!!
Worth the drive
Nice layout in good condition and a friendly staff
Westport is a good challenge. A few bare spots in the rough, but the greens are very good. Definitely a bargain for the money.
78 Degrees in Jan :-)
2nd time playing here. Very challenging layout. You need to shape a lot of shots to play this well. Greens are extremely fast and tough. I had far too many 3-putts. Plan on spending some time on the practice green b4 your round.
Course
The course was in poor shape. Leaves were everywhere very difficult finding your balls. They needed to blow the leaves off the greens.
Doglegs and Downhill Lies
I played this course for the first time with my son. The layout was scenic and unique with many doglegs and downhill fairway shots. Course was enjoyable. The leaves, however, were too abundant in the rough and in the woods making a stray ball impossible to find. Westport course maintenance should consult with Glen Oaks Golf in Maiden, NC which seasonally grinds and vacuums all leaves well.
