Exceptionally friendly staff and an affordable price point make this local muni a strong value for budget-conscious golfers. Recent tree removal has opened up the layout, allowing fairways and greens to noticeably improve.

Disappointed

Very disappointed and terrible experience. Started with a late start (40 min) due to walk on being allowed ahead of scheduled Tee Times. Wouldn’t let us start on back 9 even though we had 3 groups in front of us. Course conditions were poor with leaves on everything and the greens were not well manicured. Club house said on placement #1 spot but course said #2 spot and some greens were in #3 spot. For $50, I expected a much cleaner course with actual sand traps, not traps mixed with grass. On 5 of the greens, there were 2 holes. One with a metal plate cover and the other with the pin.

Great bang for the buck

This course is a great value. It is a good bit away from Charlotte but it is worth it if you don’t mind a drive.

Please play another local course

Nothing against the staff but this course is the worst I’ve ever played. You can hit an amazing shot and you’ll lose your ball in plain sight. Also for most hope you have to guess where the tee position is located:

Late season round… perfect Carolina day!

Course could have been in better shape but the storm took a toll on the course. Still playable and very comfortable pace of play.

Good for the Money

Course could use quite a bit of work. Although the greens were in good shape, just slow. Not crowded at all so we finished a two man round in under 3 1/2 hours.

Course it hot garbage. Greens are laughable l, no grass in the fairways. Tee boxes are sand. Save your $50 and go play in a cow pasture for free somewhere

Poor conditions eat well played shots

I had 3 tee shots middle of fairway. However because of how hard and dirt riddled the ground was were unfindable when I drove up to the line that shot was on. I had two holes that I ended up short and just right of the green looked like it was in the rough no reason to not be playable. Drive up to it and it is hard dry dirt and rocks. Ball no where to be found.

Some fairways were more of a mix of weeds and long grass while the rough was in some cases was more fairway length.

Rough

I've only played Westport one time so maybe I caught it on a bad day, but everything seemed to be in rough shape: tee boxes, fairways, greens, traps, etc. It felt like I was playing in a random field. The greens were especially slow and did not appear to have been mowed for a few days. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and there are some pretty spots. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive golf outing, you could do worse than this...but there are definitely better courses nearby.

Worst course I’ve ever played

Started off the round and realized it was a mistake. This is the worst maintained course I’ve ever played in my 15 years of golf. The greens are half grass and half mud. The bunkers are flooded. The grass is completely over grown. Our golf cart died on the 4th hole and we called the club house 10 plus times and went straight to voicemail. We walked back. I wouldn’t pay more than 10 bucks to play this horrible course.

Second time playing

The course is a nice place to play and very fair with pricing. However on Tuesday I had some obstacles to overcome during play. First, the course had just been aerated and the plugs were all over the place even on the greens. Second, As for the greens all of the cups were elevated above the grass line. I was playing croquet rules when it came to putting. Third, I almost lost my ball multiple times in the middle of the fairway. The weeds and grass were so thick that it could hide your ball..This was the second time I had played this course and I know the conditions I just mentioned are not the norm for this group. But you did ask me how my game was on this Tuesday. I did shoot an 81 which was great.

Spontaneous road trip golf trip

Very happy with the staff and the club house. Not a course we are used to at all and quite honestly will likely be back after discovering our friends now live in Mooresville. 2nd course so far and has taken the lead.
