Improvements evident
I have played this course regularly since its opening 20+ years ago but rising fees have had me looking elsewhere of late. Sunday was our first round there in almost a year. I will give management credit for making improvements to go along with higher rates.
The greens were very good but that has always been a hallmark of this course. Tees and fairways in good shape. They actually had a starter and a ranger and a beverage cart in action. I have never seen that trio at work at the same time before. Practice tee was in good shape and they have all new range balls. New carts with GPS screens as well.
So, they have upped the pricing lately but they have also provided added value.
Nice course
The course was in excellent shape. Some of the tee boxes were not very level. Nice green grass in fairways and the greens were great as well. Lots of water. Some holes you better club down. Beautiful club house. Being right next to the airport kinda sucks, but not too bad. The only issue I really had was the driving range is right next to hole 10. Could be a little dangerous out there. Course didn’t have too much elevation change. Pretty flat with some hills on either side of the fairways. Carts have gps which they’ve had for about a month now. Staff seemed friendly. Food wasn’t over priced.
My kingdom for a ranger
Front 9 went well. Back 9 was amazingly slow. 4-some holding up groups for 3 holes.
The course is in great shape. I play here a lot as a local and enjoy the layout and course. Fairways were best I’ve seen locally this year. Greens filled true and fast.
True Review
If you read enough of the reviews on here it will leave you perplexed by what to expect, so my hope is this one will find you before you waste time with several of the others.
The staff is not a bunch of bubbly personalities people. They are there to do a job and they do it. If you are rude to them they are not friendly to you. If you speak to them like humans that are your equal then they are as nice as I need a stranger to be to me.
The course.. it is a course that gets a ton of play everyday all year long by a wide array of golfers. Fairways are very good.. not perfect but much better than 90% of the other public places that get less play.. the greens are very good.. not perfect but for the amount of play they see it is amazing they look and roll as good as they do.. the rough is pretty good overall.. some spots here and there are not so great but it's the rough.. the bunkers are my only real complaint.. so, I just hit out of the ones I can and the ones I can't I just move laterally out and play on.
The course is surrounded by water and in a flood area.. so guess what.. yep.. it's a pretty wet course and the grass grows fast. Sometimes the fairway is long or the tee box is long.. but honestly people.. it's a $50 course that has no members so all tee times are available throughout the day, good carts, good rolling greens and fairways that is very good.. 18 holes cost around $40 to $80 everywhere else around here and the majority of them are well below the quality of this place.
Broadmoor
This course is overrated. The green fees are way to high. The staff are not friendly at all. They don't even have a 9 hole rate.
The worst staff ever!
This was the worst place I have ever played golf in my entire life. Although the course was nice the staff sucked. The average piece of clay is almost 4 1/2 to 5 hours and the Ranger is not visible on the course at all. The artist dress like Pepe le pew who called himself a ranger only showed up when we complained and then went on to tell me that the average pace of play is 4.4 hours. He went on to explain that it is normal for the group in front of us to hit six balls per person and although they had nobody in front of them it’s OK for them to take their time because they were within the piece of play. I have been playing golf since I was seven years old and I am now 50 and have never seen an operation ran so poorly. You guys should sell the golf course and maybe get a bowling alley or something because you suck at managing golf courses. If you are reading this do yourself a favor and don’t ever play here
Broadmoor 5-13-22
Fairways are in good shape and not scalped. Greens still on the mend from aeriation a couple of weeks ago.
Great course
Brand new carts, fairways and greens were immaculate. Great and challenging course!
Course is pretty to look at but that's it
This was my first time playing this course and I had very mixed reviews from other fellow golfers about it before I played it. I still wanted to play it.
I am a 7.4 handicap golfer. I play a lot of golf year round, well over 100 rounds per year and i see many things. the course itself was in very good shape with respect to the fairways only. I think this course is more driven towards cool season golf verses summer golf. course was over seaded with fescue or rye with lots of poa everywhere. the 2 things that got me were the greens (at least 3 different types of grass and tons of poa which to me is a no no) very difficult to read and putting speed and breaks varied on the same green. The second this was this course is published as a links course. I have played many and only 7 maybe 8 of the holes here would qualify as links style holes. The others were tight shots, fairways had lots of narrow choke points with lots of blind shots. if you don't stay on the fairway your game will suffer. I see this as a shot maker's course only after you have played it several times. The rough is rough. they were mowing but it seemed like it had been a week or more since the rough had last been mowed. Tee boxes and fairways were excellent and I could not ask for anything better here. Sand traps look like they had not been worked on in weeks. very hard pan like. In summary this course has lots of potential if they would focus more on the weeds, greens and bunkers. Right now this is not a $50.00 course and it is not a links course. would I play it again. No, not at the prices they are charging with respect to the conditions as they are in right now. Put more of your money into the greens, killing weeds and mow more frequently ( i understand good help is hard to find these days) and things will be much different. As a footnote I have worked part time for the last 22 years at a local course mowing greens on weekends, among other things, so I do have lots of knowledge about what is written here. This course has a lot of Potential.
Broadmoor
When we arrived we checked in and the pro that checked us in had no personality. I tried to ask questions and he acted like I was bothering him. It was not busy we were the only ppl in pro shop.
When we got to the first green we noticed the greens had been aerated. I think that should tell us before we played. I wouldn't have paid their inflated green fees if I had known if greens had been aerated.
The tees and fairways we're in good shape.
Fun day
Fun course. Greens were a little bumpy from aeration.
Just so so
This course has a lot of water, in the ponds and standing. The greens are often aerated due to it being in a flood plane. Interesting layout but just a bit tricked up for me. Greens were rough. Pace of play the first nine was 3 hours, 2 hours for the second but it was Friday afternoon. Just not too much to recommend. Price was fine but I probably would look around a bit more next time.
Chuck and crew are alway awesome. For weather conditions over last few weeks course was in great shape.
