San Marcos Golf Resort
About
The golf course at the San Marcos Golf Resort boasts an impressive list of past players that includes presidents and celebrities. The golf course is nestled on a property in downtown Chandler that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it has a desert landscape, the course is still lush with a canal that runs through it, a lake, and plush Bermuda grass greens, the former two creating water hazards that come into play on several holes. The San Marcos Golf Resort course is challenging with each hole having at least three bunkers. The two most difficult holes on the golf course are two lengthy par 4s, the fourth and the 10th.

Morning view down the Par-5 5th fairway. A strong drive, especially to the center-right fairway, sets you up to go for the green in two! Photo submitted by vmustang on 04/25/2021

Excellent!
My buddy Quinn and I played an early morning round. Course was in great shape. Went to the bar afterwards Zoey and Alejandra were awesome bartenders! Kept us laughing the entire time’ I would definitely play here again!
Good course
Our go to course. Always a great staff and course is always in great shape
Generally Good. Course
Conditions and place of play were good. Price, like all AZ golf, is too high.
Very Slow Pace
Course is way overbooked. Spent all day hanging out at tee boxes. Group ahead was also waiting. Seems like it’s a re-occurring issue.
Wear a helmet
I liked the course, staff and ranger were easy to deal with. Conditions were good as well.
It’s simply the tightness of this course and the balls from other holes flying by that will be my memory. The guy I was golfing with was hit by a ball (nobody yelled fore) in the chest, and this was while we were trying to figure out whose ball was on our hole. This was all day.
Wonderful Course
Pace of play was slow!
I love to play San Marcos and have refereed many of my golfers as a good course to play. This year I have played the course 3 times and the last 2 t times play was incredibly slow. The course staff was friendly and Courteous. We saw marshals but did not see any action to resolve slow play. Maybe course t times should be lengthened to allow for slow play. I may give the course another go but will stop recommending without noting slow play.
Overpriced Resort Golf
Range balls are $3/sm bucket but that’s because they’re essentially ping pong balls. The range itself is 170/180yds MAX. Rough is short and forgivingly for high hcp’ers, but the greens take away that advantage. They are in great condition though. It seemed they overbooked themselves based on the fact I saw multiple groups, including my own, waiting for carts. WM was going on, sure, but in my opinion that should not affect the off-course experience. Their Chicken Caesar wrap was pretty good though. And cheap beer. Paid $109 for the tee time in total(1:16pm).
Solid San Marcos
San Marcos is a solid test with small greens and a premium on driving. We played the tips, so several par fours at 470+ required very long tee shots an excellent iron play. Glad to see San Marcos continues to improve their green speed!
Always obyn our list
Very playable especially for the ladies. Love the grass and trees, We play it every year, it’s in great shape this year!
Good for the money
Fun course and it’s in good shape however the rangers don’t police pace of play whatsoever and we got stuck behind an elderly foursome with zero golf etiquette and they were literally 2.5 holes behind the group in front of them log jamming everyone behind them. Ranger came once the entire round and literally did nothing to speed pace of play.
Tiny greens
Course is a favorite. Its always harder than expected. Between weird shaped greens and nasty sand trap placement
