Kokopelli Golf Course
About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Is this round over yet?! Photo submitted by u000001335906 on 01/03/2015
6 hour round
They put a tournament out in front of us. 5 golfers in the foursome. Had to wait on all par 4s as they were going for the greens. Absolutely rude to do this Foursome is a foursome!
CART PATH ONLY ON PAR 3'S IS DECEIVING
When we started, we were told it was cart path only on 3 pars but were not told that many other holes were actually cart path only because they were staked off the full length of the fairway. We still loved playing the course but would have appreciated more specific information about having to stay on the cart paths for many holes.
This course needs some work
The holes as you drive in look good, but the course outside of that is in really tough shape. I haven't seen as much dirt as I did here. Many of the rolling hills are completely bare of grass. I hope they are in the process of planting but, it wasn't evident. It may have been and could be a nice course, but that is a season away, if they invest.
Cart path
Too many cart path only. Also, we had 3 different brands of Golf watches and none worked!! Otherwise, the course is in good shape.
Needs some TLC
Interesting layout, challenging target golf, tough greens. Needs a lot of TLC in the rough. Lots of drainage problems too. Played preferred lies to make it fun
5 Hr Round and didn't finish
If ur willing to wait a long time to hit a shot play here. They pack the course with players,,,,The auctual course is awful, it has dirt everywhere,,,,,,,,,,,annoying as heck (it won't let me swear)
Pace of Play
The layout of this course causes the slow pace of play. Tee times are too close together. The fairways are in good shape but there are still some problem areas. Too many players at this course do not repair their ball marks, divots and do not rake up the sand traps. I hate warming up off of mats.
I tried but this is the last straw….
It was like playing golf in a bowl of soup. Wet spots everywhere, no cart girl and they are way over priced. The greens were in bad shape(slow and ball marks). Best part of the day was the breakfast burrito that the bartender made for me…she was awesome, BTW. I was hoping this course had been revived, but the rumors were false…it’s not great and unfortunately for us, it never will be. If you pay more than $50, you’re getting ripped off. Go play Skies or Apache Creek…
Disappointed
Course not as advertised on the website. Standing water, mud puddles in fairways and sand traps. Staff very courteous and friendly.
Course is in extremely poor condition
The course is in terrible condition with huge areas bare hardpan dirt. There were areas of ground under repair on almost every hole. Rough around the greens (second cut) was 3-4inches deep making it difficult to even find your ball. Staff was very nice and professional but the condition of the course is unforgivable. We will not return again.
It’s getting a lot better!
This course has drastically improved. Prices are still too high. The fairways are in good shape, tee boxes are green, and the rough is long but healthy. The greens look healthy but they need to be cut and rolled. Excess water throughout the course. It’s getting better but it’s not quite there yet. Hopefully they continue the work they’ve been doing.
Not well maintained
It’s a tight challenging course, rolling hills and greens…the fairways and greens were in decent shape, green from the rain and new grasses, but they have a water drainage problem, a lot of pooled water where it’s not meant to be, so you’re losing balls even after hitting good shots and have to drop…if you don’t hit the fairway you’re playing out of dirt. I assume the standing water will be gone in a few days, leaving more rough muddy areas. Give it another week to dry out. Also, as of today, the sand traps were dirt, had more weeds than sand, no racks in these bunkers either( but there was no sand anyway)…bring plenty of balls, challenging course, but we still had a good time, friendly staff
Overseed well done.
This course always has many bald spots. But the overseed has set it up for a good winter.
Overseeded Needed ASAP 10/5
Friendly staff. I know a lot of the course conditions are related to the upcoming overseeding schedule, but was nonetheless disappointed. Called the pro shop a few days prior asking greens conditions, to which the response was “very good”. Greens are sadly not very good and among the slowest in the Valley. Had I known this I would have taken my business elsewhere. My score was inflated as a result, causing chips and approaches to veer well offline with inconsistent green responses.
Many, many dry spots, over saturated with water causing pools of water all across course (many mosquitoes). Perhaps wait to play here until overseeding. Enjoyable layout but not worth the $40+ fee; hoping to come again after overseeding.
