Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Good and bad

Greens and fairways were in good shape. Bunkers unplayable. They have totally stopped maintaining them. Two golf carts ran out of gas.
It’s really a good layout but they need to either remove the bunkers of take care of them. And a ranger would be helpful to keep people moving.

Perfect weather
Used cart

The course leaves a lot to be desired.

Sand traps were unplayable - wet/muddy, no sand and weeds were growing in them - very very poor maintenance.
Some of the greens were littered with needles- again poorly managed.
Where there was no green grass the ground was concrete and hard to play off - hard on clubs
There is no map of the course on the scorecard to know where you are heading

Lottsa mud traps not sand traps

I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Filthy dirty muddy carts. Every sand trap a mudhole and theres lots and lots of traps. You cannot play out of them. Or bring a shovel

Slow play

We had a foursome that was in front of us that took five hours to complete their round, and we were only a threesome. Consequently it took us five hours to complete our round. They were much older folks. I don’t know how you stop that other than have a marshal that lets them know that they are way behind.

Descent layout.

Starter was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Greens were in great shape.
Cons:
Golf carts need som TLC. Filthy dirty and the one I had had no hill brakes. Always had to find a flat surface to stop on.

Things have changed

I always enjoy this course, but I hadn’t played Kokopelli in over 10 years. The course conditions were not great; there are lots of dry spots/ dead grass and some standing water from leaky sprinklers. Considering the time of year and the weather no reason for this great course to be in less than optimum condition. That said it is still a fun and challenging course and I recommend it.

Great Course

This is a challenging course but fun to play. Only complaint is the sand traps. Full them or maintain them. They are a distraction now.

Not worth $70.00

Fairways ok , Greens interesting very challenging but the bunkers were the worst in have ever seen. On sand just hard cracked clay with weeds and grass taking over all but 2 of the bunks at 9 and 18.
Not worth $70.00 fee will never golf there again.

Can you say poo poo?

A joke of a course. Mud everywhere off the fairways, if not mud there’s dirt. Rough is much too high. Grass clippings around the greens and finally no sand in bunkers. Wouldn’t recommend this place even to my worst enemy!
