Azalea Sands Golf Course

Great course for the value. Putting green closed due to lack of watering, per staff. The course was in ok shape but the greens were firm but real slow. Feel they should either lower the rates for the course and lack of driving range and this time putting green.

I made a reservation for 18 holes through GolfNow, but when we arrived we were told we could only play 9 holes. The course itself was very nice and in great condition, but we were still charged the full 18-hole price that was listed on the reservation.

I enjoyed my day at Azalea Sands. The staff were all attentive and friendly. The course is level with generous fairways, some sand and a few water hazards, although the water rarely seemed to come into play. I found the greens to be extremely slow, I had difficulty all day adjusting to the speed, but they were lush with very few bare spots. The pace was slow for the front 9 as we were behind some beginners.

Azalea Sands was the very first course I played when I first starting coming to Myrtle Beach almost 40 years ago. The new design was very player friendly. However I had back surgery and had not golfed but a very few times prior to this trip. I really needed to hit practice balls prior to playing and practice some putting,. There is no driving range just nets and mats to warm up on and the putting green was closed. Needless to say I I did my part in speeding up play by picking up after my 5 shot limit. I enjoyed the course and the staff was extremely friendly, treating you as if they were glad you chose Azalea Sands. I will return in September of this year. Next time please hold off the rain and lightening.

I’ve played this course several times now when visiting the area. Compared to other courses twice as expensive, it is an incredible value. Greens were a little slow, but nothing you can’t adjust to. Will be back.

Fairways were ok, greens just aerated, so rough. Granted, it has been dry for a while, but the conditions unaffected by water were not great. Surprise waste areas not noted on gps or maps. Just so so.

It’s a good way to get on a vacation. Greens are really slow, nice and straight easy to get out there and exercise.

Really enjoyed the course. The only thing was that the greens were very slow as they looked and felt like they needed mowed. Course is worth a play.

I realize there has been little rain this year, but course conditions were pretty bad. Not much grass in the fairways, and many of the greens had large sections the had been recently re-sodded, creating impossible putting conditions. I had played the course many years ago, and loved the course then. I hope this year was an anomaly.

No Driving Range

First green (#10) was temp. Not sure what was wrong with original green.

All greens looked and putted like they have not been cut in two days.

Lots of maintenance going on and no one moving out of the way. Rough was extremely rough if you could find your ball.

Very disappointed. Had the feel of a golf course going out of business. Will not be back.

Our foursome arrived 30 minutes early, were sent to the starter 20 minutes late.5-hour round. Greens were horrible, extremely slow.
