Really enjoy Azalea Sands. Currently they're in the process of repairing their greens, yet they were still rollings true with good pace. Excellent value!
Fun but greens are terrible
Cours layout is fun and scenery is nice but the greens are in bad shape. Overall it was a good experience for the money. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Nice Course, Greens were rough
Enjoyed the course and golfers I was matched up with for this round. Enough water and trees to make it challenging. Greens were recently fertilized and a couple greens were rough. Overall a good course and I shot my lowest round ever.
Grass
There was barely any grass to play off of and the greens were the worst I have ever played on. Sandy bumpy and weeds on the greens. Bunkers had a bunch of rocks in them.
Worth a stop
I’ll start by saying this is by no means the best course in MB, nor do they market themselves as such. Don’t come in expecting TPC or Grand Dunes. At check-in, the guy at the desk, Chuck, immediately apologized for the state of the course. His exact words were “it’s in rough shape right now, but we’re trying our best.” For context, MB hasn’t seen meaningful rainfall in over a month- I don’t care where you are, any public course is going to struggle when that’s the case. The starter was super friendly and gave us a lot of insight about the course, and he made sure to space out start times accordingly. The front nine was nice and easy, and despite the ominous warning from Chuck, it wasn’t in terrible shape. Yes, the fairways were dry and fast, but they were maintained. No stretches of dirt or disease, bunkers were firm but not hard. Greens were dry and weedy, so I’m sure that’s where the “rough shape” comes in. If you’re trying to dial in your putting game, don’t do it here. Back nine tightens up, and any bad tee shot will end up in the trees or water. Carts had GPS and an alert system for pace, and the marshal (shoutout Tiger Claw) was patrolling the whole time. From start to finish, we completed 18 holes in 4 hours and 20 minutes. With a full tee sheet on the day and several large groups, that’s a great pace! If you’re looking for a fun round on a decent course with a great staff, Azalea Sands can’t be beat for the price. I hope they get some rain and patience from patrons to continue to work on the course and bring it up to standards.
They're not welcomed. Fairway and greens terrible. Lots of Poa Anua weed on greens
I had played many courses in Myrtle beach courses but this is one of wasteful time and money.
Not happy!
The course was in very poor condition especially the greens. There was no driving range as the web site mentioned and finally, the refused to honor the Golfnow price that I had booked.
I expect Golfnow to make this right for me and also update the course information. This was one of the worse courses I have played in several years. I rely on Golfnow to guide me when I’m playing a course I have never played. I trust the Golfnow app but in this case I was totally fooled and disappointed. I would appreciate a response from Golfnow on the issue with this course.
Unbelievable!!
I have played here at least 100 times in the past 8yrs. Booked tee time for 3:38 for 18 holes, arrived
1/2 hour early and was told we could never finish 18 Booked on Tee off and they charged an extra convenience fee which has never happened. !!
Completely overwhelmed if the coarse is full and extremely rude !!! Don’t ever ever have to worry about me showing up again !!!
Nice course for all golfers in all handicaps
The course was in good shape, but the greens and fairways were firm and fast. No rain and lack of water have taken a toll. Pretty flat but has some water. Great short tees for kids and older adults.
Do not get a tee time!
Unbelievable that they would charge a full rate to play.. greens are hard and crusty with no grass!! Fairways are hard with no grass.. and add slow play! They need to space the tee times out.. it they won’t…. Anybody posting that this course is good did not play today!!
Enjoyed the course, we will be back!
This was our first round of the year for golf season, we enjoyed it! The course was in great condition, staff were super kind. I will play here again!
Good course
Nice course layout. We got paired with another 2 guys and they made it enjoyable. Wasnt a bad course at all, especially for the money.
Good course for price
Decent track that’s on the cheaper end of the Myrtle courses. Staff is friendly and efficient. Greens look hairy but they certainly roll. Would play again
Beware of Angry aranger
My wife and I played here yesterday. We were confronted by an angry ranger who yelled at us for driving our cart to the tee and off the cart path. The staff on the course are not friendly, the course is in terrible shape and we waited all day. We will never come back. Many better courses in the area, including Beechwood right next door.
A Bit of a Dogtrack!
Course layout was not bad for a budget public course but if you are looking for even a few challenging greens, Azalea Sands may not be for you! Not only were greens flat but they were in rough shape. Many were recently punched even after we inquired over the phone 3 day ahead of our round.
The staff was friendly to our group despite a few grumpy remarks about not wanting to be there. Nice pro shop and cafe. Squirrels were a real nuisance!
