Two 18-hole courses rest on the 900-acre retreat that is all about golf -- not condos or summer homes. Panther Lakes is the flashier of the two designs at Orange County National, most say, because no two holes are the same. The playing surfaces are lush and the topography is so varied in some areas, some have a hard time believing they're in Florida. The architect made good use of the rolling meadows, grasslands, wetlands and lakes. Visually rich elements saturate the 7,295-yard design.

Course was in good shape. Greens were a bit patchy, but the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. As I understand they are closing Panther Lake this summer to redo the greens just like they did to Crooked Cat last summer. Good value for Orange County residents

Fun for all

Great facility. Someone more familiar with the course (and better than me) said Panther Lake is the easier of the 2 courses. Several sets of tees allow for a fun and payable experience for all skill levels. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in great shape. I didn't visit any of the other facilities on the property, but the driving range is massive, and includes areas for chipping and pitching. Pace of play was encouraged by rangers on the course. Our Friday 4'some which included players on 3 different tees finished 18 in just over 4 hours. The guy in the clubhouse at check-in could have been a bit friendlier, but oh well. He wasn't rude, just really nonchalant. Overall, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place.

Downhill

I haven’t played OCN in 15 years. It has gone downhill drastically. Course conditions were mediocre at best. We only saw the beverage cart once in 18 holes and the halfway house was closed when we made the turn. Definitely not worth the money. So many better options in the Orlando area.

Fun course and nice challenge

Panther lake is a great course and this was part of a golf trip for me and my buddies. We played 7 course over 6 days and we all really enjoyed this course. Course was in terrific shape and the greens were pristine. They were running a little slower than normal but that was fine for us.
