Hidden Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Golf Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard public golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Golf Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Greens suck
They need to water and repair the greens at least. Great course. Lots of hills. Just needs maintenance
Horrible shape
Course is basically unplayable. Don’t waste your money.
Disappointing because you can see that there used to be a pretty nice golf course there and whoever owns it is just let it go to complete and utter crap. I’ve played way better golf courses for that money.
Unfortunately it's still in terrible condition.
Every few months I return to Hidden Hills hoping the conditions have improved. After all this course once hosted the GJO prior to Sawgrass and TPC. It's an Arnold Palmer design and has enormous potential. Alas it's still unplayable. They can't seem to grow grass on their fairways. I'll return bet not for several months.
Fairways need help
Greens have gotten better…. But the fairways are terrible, the range is terrible, and the practice putting green was burnt up. Twilight price is the only way it’s worth playing right now.
I want to love this course.
It’s a shame that such a challenging course is in the condition it is in. Greens need to be manicured. Lots of sand through the course (not in hazards).
Hidden hills could be so good but it’s not.
Drought is not the excuse
I’ve been playing this course, regardless of wanting to, for years. It’s been in bad shape for 5+ years. We also do our yearly tournament here, which we’ve been begging the organizers to change courses. You shouldn’t be able to pipe one down the middle of a par five fairway and still hit out of sand. You say it’s due to drought, but it’s been like this for a looooong time. I doubt they cut their greens on the same days. Some greens were visibly longer than others. Then, there’s the cost for this course.
Hit Blue Sky down the road. Greens, fairways and all are in better shape.
Greens and fairways
98% of the greens are trying to manage the random sand pits that have taken over, fairways are the same way. Great course layout, but for what came out to be $77 for cart, fees, and range balls, I would expect more
Getting worse
Club still waiting on rain, because they too cheap to either dig a new well or buy new pump, I’m guessing this is true. Owner running for PGA office, he should have tournament here and bring pga officials for an outing. Just horrible conditioned and not fun anymore
Getting better
Hadn’t played here in a few months because conditions were very bad..there has been much improvement, especially on the greens. Tee boxes are better too. Overall still a ways to go, especially for $69 (granted it was Sunday morning) but I will return again. The layout with the hills is what’s so good about it
Great layout but......
This could be a very nice course if they would maintain it.
Great course. Poor maintenance
The course wasn’t in good shape at all. Fairways were dry and very patchy. Greens were really slow in some parts and non existent in others.
Course has tremendous potential but it really feels like very minimal maintenance is being done. Tee boxes were also very poor conditions.
Could be that we haven’t had a drop of rain fora few months but I must say the best place to hit from was when your ball found someone’s back yard. 😂
nice layout, experience was sub-par (pun intended)
first time played the course, and it wasn't like what it was where I played. practice facility was pretty alright, could've used some maintenance on the hitting areas at the range. Course itself wasn't comparable to spending ~47 for an evening round. Each hole was different in terms of conditions, some were nice (mainly the ones in the vicinity of the clubhouse), and some were so unplayable that I had to skip a couple. Pace of play was manageable, even though groups ahead wanted to take their sweet time that I barely finished in time to bring the cart back, mind you I played at just after 4.
Overall, if you really need somewhere to play and you don't care about spending the near 50 for a round, by all means go for it. whatever kills the time for you.
