Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Worst Course in Az
Great Staff but the course conditions were almost unplayable with the worst greens I’ve ever seen.
Bad course, good hot dogs
Definitely needs attention, very poor conditions and dirty conditions as well in the common use areas.
Golf
Apart from a couple of greens being in terrible condition the course was pretty decent overall. I would definitely play again.
Fast hard greens but fun course overall
fairways were in pretty good shape. No rough to hold your ball from getting into the desertscape. Enjoyable round. Excellent breakfast burritos and staff
Good thing we had great weather
Booking a tee time on this course was straightforward, and the price was significantly lower compared to other courses. However, we discovered the reason for this after teeing off eight minutes after a twosome. We then had to wait on every tee box. While the weather was ideal, the experience was not entirely satisfactory. The course had undergone recent updates, but if you had played here before the new owners, you could still discern the differences. Nevertheless, the course still offers a lot to offer. Tee boxes are uneven, and attempting to putt on greens with grass chunks missing and sprayed on texture can be challenging. This makes one question the cost of playing.
Despite these issues, the staff was exceptionally friendly.
Leaves A TON to be desired
The course design itself isn’t actually too bad, narrow fairways a couple of holes with water in play, long holes to work on your distance game.
This is where the good ends.
It feels like they booked tee times every 3 minutes. Set to tee off at 2:40, and we are already behind by 5 minutes.
Your finish your hole after waiting 5-15 minutes in front of you to finish, only to pull up and watch that same group be waiting for the group ahead of them to tee off.
Everyone wanted to skip each other but the problem was 18 holes deep.
The greens were more like half sand half grass.
Staff was awesome and their amenities seemed nice.
The value of playing in the afternoon for 18 holes for 30-40 bucks is there, just a shame because the course could really actually be a major hit if they watered the grass, and spaced out tee times / had someone trying to enforce pace of play.
Advice? Pay an extra 20 bucks and play elsewhere
Bad course conditions
They’re charging $90 + for greens that roll like concrete and are painted green
Poor conditions / high prices
The greens were absolutely abysmal for a 90$ round
Very rough greens
The course is in fair condition, but the greens are terrible. They're heavily sanded and very bumpy.
Good price…horrible greens!
The pace of play was a little slow for a Friday afternoon. The bunkers were concrete, and the greens were in terrible condition, sandy and bumpy. Fairways weren’t too bad. Only laid about $40. Can’t see paying more than that until the course is in better condition.
Sunday at Ahwatukee golf club
The course was fine, however the greens are in terrible condition for it only being April. Hard to imagine them getting any better as the summer approaches. The course layout and the pace of play was good. The staff was extremely friendly and I would golf here again. Hopefully they figure out the greens.
Really bad conditions
There are no positive things to say about any of the conditions. The tees, fairways, greens and bunkers are a mess. An outside service person told me the course is improving since last year. I guess that is positive, but they should be ashamed of themselves charging what they are for green fees. I had time to kill after the round before heading to the airport. Had a hot dog and plastic cup of beer for $19. This course went to the top of my 'never play here' list. Very disappointing.
