South/North at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
South/North is one of three golf courses at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The facility is home to three distinct nines that form three different 18-hole combinations. Winding through thick forests of oaks and pines, Fernandina Beach Golf Club's South/North course offers a glimpse at native Florida wildlife. The South nine depends more on accuracy rather than distance while the north nine, the shortest in length of the three, features undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play throughout the golf course. Fernandina Beach's 27 unique holes are made even more appealing by the affordable rates and convenient proximity to Jacksonville and the beach.

A few suggestions
I have played all 3 nines, and they all have their challenges from narrow, short and long, and wide-open. This a fun municipal course but the cost is a bit high for me to play here on a regular basis. The other issue I think could be improved is the course / pro shop opening time. I have had tee times at 0707 and 0715 arrived "early" like 0630 and pro-shop was closed and did not open until 0650. I have played golf for nearly 60 years, and I have never experienced a pro-shop opening this late with a 0700-start time.
But outside of these suggestions I was pleased with the course conditions, pace of play and staff. I would and have recommended this course to friends.
Great round
My tee-time was at 12:30. I had to wait maybe 10 minutes on a twosome to get to the green. I teed off and there was a twosome behind me. The pace was great throughout the entire round. No stalling at all. Very peaceful round, the course looked great.
Vacation Golf
Very pleased with pace of play., condition of the course and staff was very helpful. Highly recommend this course.
West Course
The west course greens were absolutely terrible. Huge and filled divots that looked like you were trying to putt in the fairway. It's insane that this course is over $60. This is a $30 course max.
Excellent Course
Fun course and great staff. Greens were recently sanded but should clear up soon. Love this place!
Great Municipal Course
Fun, quick round of golf while on vacation. Forgiving and relatively easy course. Greens had been recently punched and course was in great shape. Excellent value.
Not good
We play here a few times a year. Greens are currently in bad shape. West course greens are nearly unplayable. South had been punched but haven’t recovered. North course was closed. If it were anywhere else, you’d expect to pay less than $30 for a course like this. Hope they get it back to something decent again.
Needs some help
I have played here many times in the past but have never found it in the shape it was in yesterday. The greens are full of sand and weeds. The roughs right off the fairways are not in great shape either. Not sure if it’s due to lack of water but not worth the $60 I payed yesterday. I will go back but will wait for a discounted price until course is in better shape.
Great Course
This course is so much fun. They do need to work on the greens and that is about to take place. All in all, an awesome course.
Course is a nice layout
Greens and fairways need work areas where there’s no grass on the fairways and greens that are beat up
There are a lot of holes!
The staff is nice, the course is good not great. Try and play it with a GolfNow deal or it’s a little overpriced for the conditions.
Always descent
Course is in descent shape. Greens had some issues but they rolled ok. Course is always in descent shape but never excellent shape but never rough. Just always in descent shape. May be a little pricey for the average conditions but playing in Amelia island is always more expensive.
A good course for a change of pace
First, staff was very helpful and friendly. And club house is very nice and looks comfy. Second the course pace of play was really good we finished in less than 4hrs. The conditions are adequate except for the greens. They have what looks like small divots and small plugs of weeds scattered about. I am sure the course sup is well aware of these issues. Lastly, I might come back when the price is dropped about $15.
Value for Money
First played this course 3 years ago. It has been improved every year. Now plays as well as private clubs in this area.
