Hyde Park Golf Club
About
Hyde Park Golf Club, built in 1925 by Donald Ross, is one of the oldest in Florida. In 1971, the golf course was purchased by former touring professionals Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker, who have successfully restored it.
Rolling hills, gorgeous Spanish Oaks and towering Southern Pines make Hyde Park a lasting experience. A tour stop for the men's and women's professional golf tours in the 1940s and 1950s, the golf course gained a place in history during the 1947 Jacksonville Open. The great Ben Hogan took an 11 on the par-3 sixth, which became known as "Hogan's Alley." It has a deep-faced bunker to the right and water to the left.
Hyde Park Golf Club measures 6,468 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 70.4, and it has a slope rating of 123.

Great condition. Enjoyable course
I try to play every Saturday. This is usually my go to. Some holes are wide open, Not too many water hazards. Worth it!!
Great Secret!
Always been a good place to get in a round especially for that cost. Investments are really having an impact because the course was in great shape, greens were good and tee boxes were excellent.
Home Course
Hyde Park Golf & Country Club is one of the hidden gems in Jacksonville. The course is always in great condition, with well-maintained fairways and greens that roll true. The layout offers a fun challenge for golfers of all skill levels, rewarding good shots while still being enjoyable for casual players.
What really sets Hyde Park apart is the atmosphere. The staff is friendly, the pace of play is usually excellent, and the members make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Whether you’re playing a competitive round, practicing, or just enjoying a day on the course with friends, Hyde Park delivers a great experience every time.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality golf course with a classic feel and outstanding hospitality.
WOW!
Classic Donald Ross design
I was blown away
Reminds me of Timaquana CC
Hyde Park Coming Back
Hyde Park getting better and better! Appreciate the investments. Staff is wonderful.
Oldie but goidie
Probably the oldest course in town. Great layout. No gimmicks. You see your shot no forced carry. Greens always in good shape. Fairways could be better but it’s been really dry. Clubhouse is under renovation but it’s been around since the 20s. A place you gotta play!!
Price, Vintage course
A lot of work has been done to the course since I last played a year ago and it's on the up and still one of my favorite courses.
Rude people
Course sucks. Staff is rude. Spend your money elsewhere.
Great day
Always enjoy Hyde Park, this round was great due to the staff. Everyone is so helpful and courteous. The course itself is in really good shape and pace of play was excellent, did notice that the ranger was making his rounds and watching everything. The starter was also great. I've played Hyde Park for over 30 years and can say the experience is getting better and better due to the staff.
Classic
Loved the layout . They will be opening a beautiful clubhouse soon and the course conditions will improve with rain.
Course has a great layout
Had a great time playing here. Was my first time and the layout was very open. I would recommend to a friend to play.
Hyde Park golf club
It's been about 12 years since I played the golf course before. New club house is being built. Horse was in fair to good shape. Greens were ok good speed. Few bald areas but overall good
Oldest golf course in northeast Florida
I played Hyde Park golf course many times. The course is improving every time I played since 3 years ago. Can’t wait when the new club house is done. Hope the cart path can be fixed soon too. This is a course I always play when my home course is not available.
Decent shape
Greens overall pretty good - very few bare spots, though there was some inconsistency in speed from one green to another. Tees and fairways and rough were spotty - some areas good, some not, but we're in a long drought, so understandable. Three very bad pin locations cut on false fronts that were impossible - train the green people better. Clear violations of USGA recommendations.
Same but different
The course has a lot of trees and bushes removed, course seems wide open the front 9 and narrowing on the back, so need to control your shots more, everyone in my group stop using drivers for better accuracy. Still your choice and enjoyable.
Compact but overall a fun course
I got grouped up with 3 other strangers and had an enjoyable day of golf. The weather was brutal but the pace of play was great. The course is compact so if you have a bad slice or hook you run the risk of hitting other golfers. But overall the course was fun and look forward to playing again
Hyde Park GC
Recent course improvements to the 1st and 10th cart paths and a few tee boxes are a welcome site. Ongoing construction to a new club house has significant improvements yet still slow overall to the last few years progress. The cleanliness of the fairways and approaches to the greens are noticeable for an “older” golf course. Several of the asphalt cart parts are in desperate need of resurfacing or total replacement. A pleasant afternoon notwithstanding.
