About
Nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach, Honey Bee Golf Club is one of the area's most popular daily-fee golfing venues. Rees Jones designed the course, incorporating water on 10 holes as well as intricate bunkering throughout. The challenging layout has several tricky doglegs and some treacherous blind shots as well. It's a golf course that demands careful course management and some strategic thinking. Accurate shot placement is also key when maneuvering the rolling fairways and contoured greens. While it's by no means an easy golf course, it is an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels, making it a popular venue for tournaments and corporate outings. For golfers looking to get an entire day of golf in, Honey Bee's sister club, Stumpy Lake, is only about half a mile away.

Golfer Reviews
Avoid at all costs
Lots of good golf in the area this at it just find another place to play anywhere except this golf course if you can even call it that
Temporary greens
They are reseeding the greens so there are temporary greens throughout the course. Hole 8 is closed. The fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. If you go, go the practice.
Unfair review
So this review is going to be unfair. I say that because the greens were under repair and all greens were temporary. However the rest of the course was in horrible shape and I feel like they could have mentioned the temp greens at the least. Because of the green situation they had no clubhouse amenities which was disappointing. The person at the counter said because the greens were temporary they hadn’t had much business so they just decided not to have the clubhouse open for anything. I would hope this is all temporary and that if I returned to the area and wanted to play a round, things would be better. For the locals, I hope so. I called this an unfair review in the hopes that it was a “temporary” situation.
Course should be closed
Hold 8 is completely closed and every other hole has a temporary green. Absolutely insane that this course is even open let alone CHARGING FULL PRICE. Zero notice on GolfNow and I got suckered into showing up at 7am to find out all the greens were getting fixed. Just on principle I won’t play here again if that’s how management does business
Unplayable greens
$60 for a round is criminal. Greens are all dead and covered in a combination of hard mud, goose poop, and what looked like fuzzy green mold. Bunkers are all hard as concrete. Fairways somehow are in great shape though. Hope they can find a greenskeeper who is up for the task, otherwise I can’t imagine this course will be around much longer. Sad
Needs Attention!!
Greens are trash, you will lose you ball if you dont stay in the fairway. 2nd cut is 3" deep and you wont find your ball. There are temp greens where you are putting on the fairway cut. New seeding starts apparently week of 9/21. Who knows when it will be playable again. Wont play here again until I see updates.
Disappointed today.
I’ve played here before (multiple times) and the course was great! Today on the other hand, I’ll never play here again due to the conditions of the greens specifically. They were so bad, you could literally NOT putt on them. Dead grass, goose poop and what appeared to be a hole relocation that was filled in with sand vs. using the new hole location sod. It was beyond belief that they were still charging normal rates too. Skip this course if you want to play… unless they charge to $20. Seriously not worth more than that to play. If you do play here, leave your putter in the bag. You won’t be needing it!
Honey Bee Review!
I would not recommend this course until they fix the greens. Most of the putting surfaces are dirt. Almost unplayable. I should’ve requested a refund.
Greens were not playable with disease or dead grass.
Greens were not playable with disease or dead grass. Fairways were better. Traps were not maintained. Definitely better deals around
Greens were black and dead that’s all that needs to be said
Course used to be premier
I went here in May, course condition was excellent the only thing that needed work were the green side bunkers. Now, the course is in complete disrepair and all the greens are destroyed. I understand maybe charging 25$ for the condition that it was in but premium pricing on that condition was not equal to a 60$ round of golf. I love that course but it’s falling apart.
Greens deatroyed
No starter, greens terrible. Not worth $15! Very rundown course to include fairways!
Bad for the money
Absolutely terrible greens where gone nothing but mud course in real bad shape must be letting it go
