SilverRock Resort is the city of La Quinta's first municipal golf course. This Arnold Palmer Classic Course is the home course of the Bob Hope Classic. At 7,239 yards, it is the longest course in Palm Springs and one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour. SilverRock sits right at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop for every hole. It is closer to the mountains than any other public golf course in the area. The rugged landscape provides rocky outcroppings and massive native bunkers to contend with throughout the course. Beautiful water features also come into play on several holes. The SilverRock layout is challenging but the widths of the fairways are fair and playable and the holes are diverse enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels.

The back nine was closed

The fact the back nine was closed was not disclosed to the golfers when tee times were made or at check in. A waste of money.

course needs water

back 9 is being refurbished, so play front 9 twice. Friendly foursome, but some burnout already evident in fairways and on greens. The greens play dead straight, just as the starter instructed, so listen to those with course knowledge.

Exceeded Expectations

Very friendly staff. They get you ready for your golf day. Carts felt newish. They were comfortable with ice, waters, and even a club cleaning station on the cart itself. The course is gorgeous as you’re playing right next to the mountains the entire round. Flowing water and waterfalls throughout the back 9 is what took it over the top. Will definitely play this course again.

Perfect Pace of Play

It was our first time on the course and we missed our tee time. The starter let us start on the back nine and It almost felt like we were the only ones out there.

I appreciate his willingness to accommodate us! Great course, great staff!

Has been in better condition previously

Some of the greens were not in very good shape (especially #4). Many of the sand traps were very dried

Unfinished old construction sites all over

What an awful experience:,A trailer as pro shop, abandoned construction sites all over the place. A shame! Don‘t trust the website pictures. A day to forget.

Under construction

Course is actually in a beautiful location, greens were in need of a lot of work, course was very dry and hard. Had a good time but pro shop is in a trailer and never made it to the make shift grill for lunch. Under a lot of construction currently and probably will be a great place in a yr or so….

good hot round

seemed odd that now the pro shop is in a trailer and there are lots of partially completed buildings with no work going on. Didn't like the pace of play warnings since we never held anyone up but we were the last 4 holes. Very scenic and a good variety of holes from about 100 yds to almost 600 yds.. Lots of subtile breaks in the huge greens.

Target golf course

This course was fun to play, the green were very well guarded with bunkers and water. Definitely target golf.

Only thing was they marshal was pushing us even though we finished in 4 hors 10 min. Nobody behind us.

overall

The course itself: funky layout on some holes;

many challenging holes; fairways, roughs, &

traps in very good condition; greens not so

good.

The rest of it: excellent pace of play (less

than 4hrs for out 3-some; friendly staff, great

beverage cart, and half-way house service.

There are other great Palm Desert courses

that have better layouts with better

greens ie: Indian Canyons, Desert Falls,

Gary Player- Mission Hills.

Course was good but Marshals were not

Many structures around the golf course under construction or abandoned. The pro shop is in a temporary structure. Although the course itself was in great condition, took away from the experience seeing all the frames of unbuilt structures all around the course. The bag handling staff and starter were very friendly, but marshals were not. They told us 4 times to speed up and that the group ahead of us were 2 holes ahead. The group behind us never waited and we finished in 4 hours and 8 minutes. The course plays at 4 hours and 15 minutes so I’m not sure why they kept pushing us. I won’t play here again for those reasons.

Misleading Website

The staff is very friendly, the fairways were in in excellent condition, and the greens were in fair to poor conditions. The biggest problem is that their website photos and statements are misleading. Their site reads: "...the current site conditions and future construction activity may result in temporary interruptions to scenic views in select areas..." This temporary situation has has been going on for 20 years, according to their staff, as 4 failed development attempts have left incredibly ugly shells of buildings all around the course, a poorly configured 18th hole, and a mere mobile trailer for a "clubhouse". There are too many courses in the valley; this one is not worth it.

Good track decent price for the area and time of year

It’s was a good challenging course, great layout , it is important to choose the right tees and not bite off more than you can chew.

Staff was excellent, water in the cooler to start the round and then refill stations every 3 holes.

Beautiful mountain views and overall gorgeous course. Paid 120 to tee off at 1300 hrs, done ok. 4.5 hours. Never waited to hit on any holes and good pace.

Staff teed me off early as I was golfing single which was nice .

For 120 bucks it was a good track.

There were a few greens with some minor dead spots buts the course played fair, the bunkers can be daunting .

Will play again.
