The Amelia River Club
About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,878 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Golfer Reviews
Enjoyable
Saturday afternoon 3pm tee time. Went out 15 minutes early as tee box open. Caught walking twosome on 17. Very good shape especially for end of summer. Greens ran very nice for 4 weeks after aeration. Firm and relatively fast (ball ran out well)
Definitely worth it at that price point. Staff was really nice and helpful being my first time there.
I typically play across the street at the muni course but for a few extra $$ worth taking this in.
A typical great day at Amelia River
We got a GolfNow hot deal for $72 which is pretty much the bargain of the century. The staff was friendly as always, the greens were in amazing shape. The fairways were a little scratchy in a couple of places because it looks like they might’ve just done some maintenance on them, but there were still virtually no bad lies.
If you’ve never played here, get here as soon as you can, and if you can find a GolfNow hot deal for less than 100 bucks, sprint, don’t walk to play this course.
A really nice golf course and staff
From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The course was in good condition even though had been arrested a week or so before - actually minimal issues, so readily playable. The layout is nice, interesting with water trees, etc. but not too challenging, so fun. We had players on 3 different tees/skills and all enjoyed.
Wonderful, if hot, round at the Amelia River Club
We thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf at the River Club. From the minute we arrived we were treated with kindness and very pleasant staff. Love that they provide cold towels to help combat the heat, and they provide more towels during the round as needed. The cart service was exceptional, she readily offered ice. The course is pretty wide open - no excuse not to hit the fairway! Love playing here and look forward to returning.
Great shape
Fairways and greens in great shape. Love the layout. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Slow play is only the beginning
I know ow it was a holiday weekend, but for what they charge, they should have a ranger. We were a foursome following a three some and we waited on every shot. The fairways were in terrible shape and the rough was thing weeds but mostly dirt and sand. The beer cart girl had the personality of an apple core turning brown. We paid $69 for nine holes. $39 would have been a lot for this experience.
