Greens slow. Looks like they aerated a couple weeks ago. Should be good in a week or two. Everything else is great. Give it a week.
Needs maintenance
Good layout, but conditions were not good. Greens had been aerated and not mowed in 7-10 days. Fairway turf decent, but needs more care. Would be a good track if more attention was paid to course maintenance.
Eagle Trace Golf Club – A Challenging, Beautiful, and Unforgettable Round in Broward County
Eagle Trace Golf Club is the kind of course that earns its reputation every single time you play it. From the staff to the scenery, every element of the experience comes together to deliver a round that is as memorable as it is challenging — and one that is absolutely worth every penny of the green fee.
The experience starts before you even tee off. Nelson, the Starter at Eagle Trace, may genuinely be the coolest starter I have encountered at any course I have ever played. Personable, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the game and the club he represents, he sets the tone for the entire round in the best possible way.
Going in, I was aware that the course had just been aerated — but Eagle Trace handled it beautifully. The tee boxes were all in excellent shape, and the fairways were absolutely stunning. Lush, well-manicured, and consistent from hole to hole, they were among the best I have played on in South Florida. The greens, fresh off aeration, still played surprisingly well and held up better than expected. It is a testament to how well this course is maintained even under less-than-ideal circumstances.
The layout itself is a genuine challenge. Thoughtfully designed and demanding from start to finish, Eagle Trace rewards smart course management and punishes wayward shots in equal measure. It is the kind of challenge that keeps you fully engaged from the first tee to the final putt — and has you mentally replaying holes long after the round is over.
Now, for one of the most unique and delightful surprises the course has to offer — the Florida Burrowing Owls. Nearly every hole features these beautiful little birds, and on a gorgeous day like the one we played in, they were out everywhere. Watching them go about their day as you navigate the course adds a truly special natural element that you simply will not find anywhere else. It was an unexpected highlight that made the round even more special.
After the round, the clubhouse was a perfect place to unwind. Beautiful, well-appointed, and welcoming, it matches the quality of the course itself. The bartender behind the bar was an absolute sweetheart and poured a great drink — exactly what you want after a tough but rewarding round.
Overall Grade: A+
Eagle Trace Golf Club is a must-play for any golfer seeking a top-notch challenge wrapped in pure natural beauty. If you are looking for a course that tests your game, rewards your effort, and leaves you with lasting memories — this is the one. Nelson will make sure you start right, the owls will keep you smiling, and the course will keep you coming back.
Eagle Trace GC
Played previously in September 2025 when it was extremely wet so was keen to play it again when dry. The course condition and presentation was excellent from the tees to all of the greens. Didn’t play my best golf but that wasn’t the course just me and would definitely play here again if back in the area. The only disappointment was the bar was closed when we finished however we did have a late tee time around 2.15pm.
Best Kept Secret!
Great course and super challenging!! Really helpful staff as well!
Bad Maintenence - good design layout
So disappointing that the care of this course is so neglected, because it is a very good design. Golf staff was excellent, but buy some weed killer & fertilizer and you would have a great layout.
good design bad maintenance
Staff was great Course design is excellent. Looks like they gave away the maintenance budget. Needs weed killer and fertilizer..... everywhere. 3 or 4 different grasses have invaded the greens and the fairways are spotted with gosh knows what. Cart paths have been neglected too. To bad, as it is a really good layout that just needs some TLC.
Wow!
Choose your tees wisely. The course is fair but extremely challenging if your 2nd shot requires more than a 7 iron. Greens are pure and are not deep so depending on angle of approach may not accept anything except good yardage control. Really enjoyed the variety of hole layout and green subtly. Can't wait to go back again.
Staff were courteous but the driving range teeing area was distressed at best.
The clubhouse decor was dated but the staff was very nice.
Overall I really enjoyed the the experience.
Greens are back, but pace of play …..
I have been playing Igal trace for years and the course is in the best shape I’ve seen in a while. Fairways could use a little tender love and care but the greens are fast and spectacular. As a golf pass number I receive great rates to play a championship golf course which you can’t beat. However, the pace of plate needs to be monitored. I feel the starter should give some tips to those who have never played the course as it is extremely challenging for the average golfer let alone the pros who thought it was too difficult when they played the Honda classic there. A ranger on the course would be a great help especially when you’re playing behind two foursomes that are playing scramble and waiting 300+ yards to hit their T-shots. Overall, it makes your game better by playing this challenging and difficult layout.
great course
Course in good shape, noting that dry conditions have likely hurt a few areas and kept the rough lower than what they probably want. I hope to play again soon.
Fast greens, bad fairways
Greens were slick. Fairways need more grass. Too many bare spots.
RAIN RAIN RAIN
Unfortunately, my trip to Fort Lauderdale is not turning out so well yesterday’s teatime. It was raining so I did not get a chance to play
This morning, I had a teatime at Doral Silver Course
And it didn’t stop raining till after 8:30 so I did not get to play that course
So the two days I had the opportunity to play golf I did not that’s mother nature
Sunny Florida
Course is in good shape. We played with someone that played many times. It helped for speed of greens and slope of Fairways. Starter not helpful. We would return.
What a facility
Great staff, beautiful course (very challenging)
Had a great experience
I will be back next year.
Fun, friendly and challenging
From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the friendliness of the staff who put us in a relaxed mood. We love this course because it is challenging but forgiving. We never felt rushed and finished in 3 1/2 hours. The greens were fast and in great shape. We will be back!
