Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Slow play and no help from course staff!

Took 5 hours to play due to a 5some and a 7 man group a head of us that the golf staff should have forced to pick up pace or let folks play though. The staff/GM doesn’t give a rip about making the golf experience enjoyable.

Baytown Golf

The course had a good layout, but the greens were awful. I will say they had just been treated but no one told us that. We figured it out on the 1st green. The tee boxes were average at best. If you’re going to golf in this area there is far better courses.

Great Layout

Baytowne has a great layout and a reasonable price, but right now our group found the greens to be very rough, shaggy, and super slow. Good pace of play and staff was friendly.

Nice layout, poor conditions

The course layout and fairways were nice, tee boxes just okay but the conditions of the greens were not good. They were punched and extremely sandy due to aerification. I will give it another shot in a few months when the greens are back to normal.

Good place to play when in Destin.

Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were a little slow due to sand left after aeration. My buddy said he didn't think he had ever seen a course with so many bunkers (he hit about 20 of them) but they didn't get in my way as much. I look forward to playing again when I'm down there.

Great golf course

Baytowne is my favorite course in the greater Destin area. It is challenging, well designed and a real joy to play. My hope is that the rumors that Baytowne will be substantially eliminated due to the developers desire to build more condos are not true. Baytowne is a real gem and should remain a great golf course!

Fun Course

Great course with some challenging holes. Friendly and frequent cart service during the round. Starter was super nice. Greens were somewhat inconsistent in terms of speed but true / no funky breaks. My only complaint was on hole #18 …… all the fairway sprinklers were on while we were playing (5:00 in the afternoon). No one monitoring. The fairway was completely soaked and muddy ….. and we needed to move our balls to avoid the intense sprinklers. A disappointing way to end a nice round.
