Amazing course and Staff
Genuinely had the best experience with this course. Rob at the pro shop was incredibly helpful and so accommodating.
Tough beautiful course
Myself and a friend both unofficial 28 handicappers that play once a month visited pontypridd yesterday. 1st impressions were a beauty of a course above pontypridd town and it was blowing a gale. The pro shop was well stocked and friendly and we were able to tee off 20 minutes before our tee time. Stunning views all around. Neither of us had played the course before so blank canvas. After playing 3 or 4 holes we were very unsure on the distance markers in relation to what we were seeing with our eyes. The course seemed to play very long. A negative and its possibly just a preference, but I don't like courses where holes criss cross each other. That is not a slight on the course though which was beautiful but maybe more suited to lower to mid handicappers rather than high handicappers. Easy to find your way around the course. Excellent value for money via golf now at £27 on a Saturday. Friendly members in the bar afterwards who said that considering my handicap and the wind we played in the 118 strokes I took was good. I would recommend the course without doubt to others. Thank you pontypridd.
Hidden Gem
Great course, well kept, looking forward to going back in the summer when the greens are running fast. Some nice quirky Holes. We will be back!
Pontypridd Golf Course
The course with the views across the Welsh valleys. Even after the heavy rain of the last few months, the course played well. Holes 3 and 4 were closed due to recent heavy rain, but the rest of the course had held up well. There's something for everyone at Pontypridd, with tight par 3s and longer, often quite narrow, 4s and 5s. You go up the side of the mountain twice, with stunning views across the valleys as you put out on the 8th and 15th. The par 3 16th allows you to play into the heavens with the green 190 yards or in the distance back down a steep hill. And, of course, then there is the stunning 18th, playing back across a dig to the green by the clubhouse.
Pontypridd golf course
Had a great day also had a hole in one on the 15th.Great views and members were very friendly.
Nice course
Early tee time meant I sped around a lovely course. Good quality greens. The only thing I wasn’t sure about where the number of holes that crossed each other - what is ir like when it is busy?
A timeless stroll through the valleys.
Tucked quietly within the folds of the Rhondda valleys lies a true hidden gem of a golf course, a place where the game feels less like sport and more like a journey through a living painting. Excellent value for money scarcely captures the richness of what’s on offer here: rolling fairways, sweeping views, and a serenity that money can’t truly buy.
The course itself winds through dramatic hills — a stern test for the legs as much as the swing — but every step rewards you with scenes of quiet wonder. The slopes are clad with pine, their sweet scent hanging in the crisp early autumn air, reminding you that you are far from the bustle of the everyday. Here, Welsh wildlife is a constant companion: sheep grazing lazily on distant slopes, squirrels darting through the trees, and a lone hawk circling with grace above it all.
Perhaps most magical of all were the streams, cool and clear, bubbling beside us as if whispering secrets from another age. Their music followed us from hole to hole, lending a rhythm to our round and a sense that we had wandered into a place untouched by time.
Yes, the climbs are hard work, but in exchange you are gifted vistas that stretch endlessly across the valley, a reminder of golf’s oldest allure: not just the challenge of the course, but the chance to walk in landscapes that stir the heart. This course is not just played — it is experienced.
This course provided a good challenge
Was made to feel very welcome by the club secretary and members course was in good conditions many interesting holes very good value would definitely recommend.
Keep your wits about you
Enjoyable round but the layout of the course means you need to always be aware of your surroundings. Crossovers between various fairways and tee boxes meant a fair bit of waiting around for players to clear and a couple of near misses with wayward shots from different directions.
However a decent, well kept course overall with spectacular views and some tricky holes, including the daunting incline on the 13th and many tight tee boxes that punish wayward drives.
Stunning Views and friendly people
Played the course solo, was a very easy laid out course, with big hills but is all worth it for the views you get from the tee boxes! Friendly members chatted to me while I was going round, Would definitely return again!
Great course and tight fairways
Great course, tight fairways on slot of the holes. Wonderful views, greens will improve I’m sure and a terrific overall golf experience.
Generally tired and in need of some love and money attention around edges, clubhouse etc. no pro in the shop or check in process for green fees.
Still a nice experience.
Great challenge
This course is a great challenge. Long well managed fairways. Fabulous greens. Not for those without strong legs as huge climbs around the mountainous course. Every hole was an interesting and a golfers dream. Keep hydrated as your in for a great workout
On arrival I didn't think much as there were sheep on the fairway. Very quickly I met staff and two members, all of whom were friendly and welcoming. During the round I joined up with two other locals who gave me a lot of help plotting my way around the course. Although holes criss crossed quite a bit it was very well signed posted. Great views and a real challenge. For £25 highly recommend it.
Hilly but interesting
On top of a hill so some good views. Well maintained fairways and greens. Some very hilly holes but also some flat holes.
