Very green, good drainage as on mountain but more like a 13 hole course than 18
Very green, good drainage as on mountain but more like a 13 hole course than 18.
2 of the tees are more or less the same just different positions. E of the tees are VERY steep and rarely get played. Some tees dont flow off one another well.
But greens were lovely, no burn patches in grass, plays well in wet weather.
Average
Slightly disappointed with the course overall. The amount we paid as visitors to how the course was laid out was slightly disappointing. Not very well signposted. Although we were told the 13th was a new layout we were told it was playable. We found the signs for the 13th but was not in play. Along with holes 7 red tees. Had to have a member explain where the tees were.
We found number of people out of the course jumping holes and cutting in front. We paid full price and not able to play full 18holes which was slightly disappointing.
The condition of the course was good and the greens were well maintained. A challenging hilly course.
Not one for the shortlist!
Not a classic, very hilly, confusing layout with crossover holes.
Presents its own challenge, playing off slopes and slopes on greens.
Need to stay on fairways!
Should be played, inexpensive and good experience overall.
Good views.
Played before not the best course , payed online yesterday to play as it’s easier for me as I live near by just to say they are close, no information online saying they were close at all so took my money straight away but won’t give it back straight away.
Awful
All over the shop layout wise. Course doesn't have 18 holes. I know it's winter but the greens were terrible even by winter standards. £30 is daylight robbery. I can see why there was so much choice for tee times. Won't go back.
Decent
Course was in good condition, only down side it’s very hilly
Don’t waste your time
Not an 18 hole golf course, poorly sign posted, playing across greens and other fairways with worrying regularity.
To give a balanced view - Greens were very good and the green staff should be commended given a lot of holes get double the traffic. Members were very nice in recognising that non members find it ridiculously hard to navigate, reinforcing the fact that it needs better signage.
Strange layout
Course conditions ok- however the layout is strange. Especially 7th/15th shared fairway and greens aswell as 8th/16th.
Slowed play right down. Not a £35 course
Bad members etiquette
I walked up to the first tee to where two guys were waiting for a friend to turn up, so because I was a one ball, they let me play first. Whilst I was on the 3rd hole, the group i had teed off in front off, cut out 2 holes and by the time I found myself on the 4th tee, I was waiting for the 3 ball to finish up on the green. Expecting them to say “don’t worry, we’ll let you through” after I questioned how they got ahead of me, I spent the next 4 holes waiting almost 5 minutes on every shot, and there were no groups ahead of them either. I also waited nearly 15 minutes to tee off on the 7th hole due to the congested nature of that part of the course. The group I played through on the first tee knew I was a guest (they were members) as I told them it was my first time, therefore I can’t understand why they thought it acceptable to cut me up and proceed to make me wait on every shot. After the 7th hole I was completely fed up and walked in. I won’t be playing this course again.
Do you like hills?
A coarse that has a lot of gradient, not for the faint of heart, layout of the coarse is ridiculous, and the signs to the next tee are woeful, it was well kept, but coupled with the above points especially to someone who has never played it, repeat customers will definitely look elsewhere.
Quirky course
Friendly locals greeted us at this hillside location (bring good shoes!). First tee shot is over the practice green with a patio of members watching you… daunting.
Enjoyed the course as a whole, very interesting holes.
There is points in the round where it gets a bit dicey… criss-crossing holes are somewhat dangerous for a visitor. (16 holes playing 18 - they’re working on 2 more holes)
We thought quite a few of the greens were of poor condition, so not great value for £30. But an enjoyable day
