River Oaks Golf Club

This course remains in good condition, the fairways collars and greens are all well-maintained.

It was a little discouraging to see that the course allowed a 6 player group to play. That said, they played quickly and didn’t slow us down that much overall.

Overall the course was in great shape, the only complaints are as follows:

-No progressive rough. First cut was over ankle deep directly off the fairway

-Pace of play, there is no starter or roaming Marshall to ensure groups maintain pace. There was no group two holes ahead of us the entire front 9 but when we made the turn there were 6 groups ahead of us. Pace for the back 9 was 3:10

This course is in excellent condition, including the bunkers. River Oaks is in better condition than many equally priced, or more expensive courses in the area.

In addition, the driving range has always been well marked with plenty of distance identifying poles, but the hitting surface was always in very poor condition. I was pleased to see that this has improved as well. It appears RO is now making a concerted effort to maintain the range.

My son and I were surprised at how dry the conditions were here, and the first course where there were no yardage markers in the fairways. We liked the layout and pace of play, but greens were inconsistent, some fast and some slow.

Its a fun course to play with lot's of chances to improbe.

If you're going to let the course fade away, at least maintain the quality of your greens above all else and River Oaks does that. Brown spots and dead grass are abound elsewhere. Happy I got a Hot deal, paying anything more would feel a little rough.

I like this course to work on my longer shots, whether teeing off of approach shots. Greens seem to be running a little faster than I can remember from the past, and very nice, but patchy fairways having a lot to due w/ mostly this time of year. Jeremy's always helpful in the proshop (shack shop - not really a "proshop") & the starter that day was very courteous & was geat to talk with too. I played w/ an older couple that were absolutely wonderful, & if I can play as they did when I'm 79 & 80 like them, I'll be happier than a pig in a mud puddle. Unbelievable. really enjoyed my game w/ them very much. Shows what you can do if you want too while taking care of yourself as you're getting older. Grass range which is always a positive too. Nice practice green & a bunker also. Just expect a lot of local folks either fairly slow or just fast like "wham bam boogie whack next" as I call it all over the place pushing you w/ carts! Be prepared if you play well & take the time you are allowed per shot because if you are paired up w/ these kinds of players, and you are waiting on them to hit, and then it's your turn, you like the guy that's holding folks up. Odd, but it’s the way it is everywhere now, so just be ready for that! But w/ all this, I love the course, enjoy the folks out there & will be back.

The course was in good shape and the weather was perfect.

Course condition is what you would expect during the winter. Greens were in very good condition. Faster than they usually are which is great.

The course is the best value in the area. Always in great shape
