Paid $0 for my round after using a deal and a credit and I was still disappointed. Greens are just dirt and weeds. Even the cups are placed incorrectly at the level of the ground so most putts lip out. This would be like prepaying for a cheap restaurant meal and them telling you to dig in the trash for food. Please just close down.
All good except the greens!
All is good at Lakeridge except for the greens, which are not playable. It looks like the course maintenance personnel did not spray in time to prevent major damage by Pythium fungus that damaged the greens to the point where most greens are infected, leaving large swaths of bare black dirt instead of grass. Goose grass has also invaded the greens so that if you do have an open line to the cup, the ball has a bumpy ride to it making it difficult to putt at all.
So the fees are cheap, the staff is friendly, and most of the course is fine, but they do have that major problem with the greens.
Would not recommend greens
Public course, granted, but greens were awful, with crab grass, divets, etc.
course is mostly short holes (<130 yds from the blues), so not the best if you want to practice your driving range.
However, really uncrowded, so if there are aspects to your game you want to work on (other than putting), this'd work fine.
No county money maintaining this course
I go here regularly, simply to practice my swing. You can practice your short game for sure. Every single green is absolutely horrendous. Nothing “fair” in the fairways either. The grass is high and lots of clovers everywhere. It’s very easy to lose your ball even in the fairway unless you were standing right over top of it
Tee boxes are patchy at best….so sad !
You can only practice your general putt swing. The only way to make this worth anything is to become a modern member and just pay the five dollars every time you visit. Anything outside of that is a complete rip off! Again, this is a great place to come practice your swing and not have a lot of busyness so if that’s what you want to do then go for it!
OK for what it is
For a local Par 3, it’s fine. Tee boxes and Greens are in terrible shape most of the time. But if you are looking to get in some swings, it’s a nice place that’s close to home to do so. Keep in mind that disc golf is also played there. I paired up with a gentleman playing disc golf and we had some nice conversation as we waited for the groups in front of us. I had to wait to tee off on every hole but still finished in about 90 minutes.
Not worth it
Course conditions were horrible. No sand in bunkers. Every hole on front 9 has weeds and dead grass on the greens. Only played 9 holes. No rough. Fairways were ok. Spend your $20 elsewhere.
Atrocious and beyond poor condition
The greens had weeds and rough patches thicker than the rough. Unplayable and tee boxes were nothing but sand boxes. Should just shut down as a real golf course and just continue as a Frisbee golf course... Pathetic
Great to practice short game
This is a nice course to practice with your shorter irons and wedges. It was not busy at all on a Saturday morning. Greens are in pretty good shape - they are slow. Some tee boxes are in very bad shape but you can find a patch of turf to hit from. Holes are spread out and separated from each other so it would not feel crowded even with a lot of golfers.
Staff is friendly.
Had fun, played with coworker, overall liked the course, could have sand on the bunkers and greens could have been smoother and it would make a way bigger difference but overall a fun 9 holes.
Course needs help
We played the course and it was $20 a person. The tee boxes were in really bad shape and the greens are even worse. It’s fun to get out to practice iron shots but putting is impossible. I
Lake Ridge 1
Good layout but not well maintained. Bunkers and Greens need constant upkeeps.
