Visitors Made to Feel Unwelcome
Visited Avro Golf Club recently as a paying guest and unfortunately the experience did not reflect the “friendly club” atmosphere that is promoted.
During our round we were spoken to quite abruptly by members despite not holding up play, which made what should have been an enjoyable visit feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Had anyone politely asked to play through, we would have happily allowed it.
To be fair, the club manager initially responded to my complaint and acknowledged the situation, however after stating the matter would be investigated further, no follow-up was ever received. That lack of communication was disappointing and felt unprofessional.
The course itself has potential, but first impressions and member conduct matter, especially for visitors and pay-and-play golfers who are also supporting the club.
