Breightmet Golf Club

Firstly, course was in great condition, this review is on the club not the course.

Whoever the greenskeeper was chatting to me was extremely helpful and apologetic.

Nowhere on the booking or on their main website was it made aware only 9 holes were open and it was two loops.

Until I got there the only notice (seen afterwards) was a piece of paper on the club shop window (which wasn’t open when I arrived)

Really poor value for money, requested 50% refund but poor response.

Booked this course on Golfnow. Arrived to be told there were only 9 holes open and you played them twice. We had to use mats off all fairways. We didn't have mats, so were told to move balls from fairways to first cut of rough.

It was cold with a bit of wind and the course was damp and muddy underfoot. Didn't have an enjoyable first 9, so left it there.

If Golfnow or the course website itself had had info on the conditions, we wouldn't have booked it! I'm assuming that it would be the course's responsibility to update Golfnow, but who knows.

Altogether a poor show.

Course was only playing 9 holes but the holes that were available were in great condition for the time of year.

It would have been nice to have known that only half of the course was open and that mats were in use on fairways prior to booking

Would play again, balls are running on fair ways in December

Good greens , but 9 of the holes was shut ,,

It's just need sign posting better if that what's going happen when you need to play 9 hole twice

Overall good course

Played one as a guest and immediately bought a membership, staff are really friendly and offered loads of advice for a rank beginner like me. Course is very well maintained and the club house is great

Well worth the money to play with wide fairways and decent size greens it’s set up for all levels of golfers. Was a bit strange to get there for a 2:30 tee off time and pro shop was closed ( hence the staff rating didn’t meet anyone) but the course is challenging but also rewarding too couldn’t really find fault with it and will definitely be going back soon.

I was worried what the course would be like after the storm but was very good, a bit boggy in places but nothing to stop playing. The grass on tee offs for each hole were a little long but the rest of the course I was happy with. Definitely play here again. Welcoming from the off. Great day

Greens/fairways all in super condition

Pace of play was great not a person in sight, and we played at 2pm on Saturday.

Second time playing here would recommended to anyone.

Always in good condition. Friendly members. Friendly staff.

Excellent kept course and well worth a visit. Great value for money! Only disappointment was the kitchen was closed for food midday. Would return!

Played the front nine after work and it was just delightful. Not the longest track off the yellows, but the layout and the elevation changes make it really interesting and you can’t just grip it and rip it. Greens were in beautiful nick and the fairways were holding up really well considering the weather.

Beautiful setting with the heather and berries in bloom and really enjoyable to play.

Staff and members are lovely as well!

The only criticism of the condition of the course would that some tees were a bit worse for wear and it was hard to find a flat grassy bit. But that’s splitting hairs. Everything was excellent. Make it take some oxygen for the back 9. There are a couple of cracking hills in there!

The course is great, some challenging holes but rewarding. Despite the none stop rain for the entire round the course held up great and greens were rolling perfect.

Staff were great and welcoming and even the members were kind to us when we went OB and didn't realise because the markers were hidden behind a tree.

Only comment and warning would be that the GC do not have buggies and it is an extremely hilly course which may turn me away from returning as I and my friend who played here suffer from existing leg injuries and found it difficult at parts to get our push trolley up.

Otherwise a great course to play.

I have always wanted to play this course yesterday I got the chance, arrived early to check out the club house and pro shop and the staff were very polite and friendly, putting green and nets there for practice and also in fantastic condition, people were friendly and the course itself was in tip top condition, the course is a fantastic layout and has some quirky holes, the greens were absolutely fantastic and run true as expected. Well done to all the green staff for an amazing round of golf, and I will definitely go back and play here again

Superb course, lovely scenery......word of advice, apply some insect repellent spray before playing.

Very quiet round, greens and fairways were great but only gripe was the tee boxes weren’t in great condition.

One of the best courses I’ve played.

As a high handicapper is was incredibly fair. Rough seemed to be graduated and straying slightly from the fairway wasn’t a massive penalty link with some of these “championship” style courses.

Greens were true but not extremely fast.

Would definitely recommend and will certainly be going back
