Nice course, well maintained.
Its a nice little golf club, the staff are polite and very welcoming.
The course was very well maintained, greens running moderate/fast and true, bunkers well groomed and the tee boxes were actually flat which is normally a huge annoyance for me. The course would be fairly easy if the wind wasn't gusting at 35mph.
Pace of play was great. I was using a buggy and finished the 18 in about 2hrs 30mins which was great as i wasn't really rushing either.
Easy Golf
The fairways have survived the heavy rains and whilst not yet fit for buggies, are reasonable to walk on. The greens are excellent ( although too many golfers don’t repair pitch marks) and there are improvement work underway on some of the bunkers!
Beautiful course
Fantastic day,Great course, greens magnificent brilliant views ,friendly and helpful staff.
Will definitely be going back again
Best £20 ever!
For the cost this was amazing, the greens have recently been dressed hence the price, but they were almost fully ready. The rest of the course was very dry and hard but didn't spoil a nice day. Clubhouse staff were great as was the Pro shop. Well worth the visit.
Greens under repair
The greens had all been top dressed and aerated. We weren’t notified before or on arrival this was the case and the tee boxes were in bad condition
Slow pace, otherwise great
3 & 4 balls not letting me play through as a single. I ended up skipping 2 holes to get in front of a 4 ball at one point. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common occurrence at Stratford Oaks. Other than that, it's a great course. Good facilities in terms of range, chipping area, putting green etc. Good value for money. It's a shame that the pace of play can let this place down sometimes.
Positive feedback
Course in good nick considering recent weather, greens were a bit fluffy but decent and many bunkers GUR waiting sand but on the whole the course was more than playable
The greens were very good rolled true
The green were very good rolled true so well done for this time of year 28/12/24
The rest of the course was soaked very wet !!
Some fairways shouldn’t have been open in my opinion and around the greens very wet to
I read a review saying it was a good winter course and this lead me to make my booking !! But it’s not a winter course at all I’m sure it would be lovely in the dryer months
but at £40 each the course conditions were not anywhere near good enough
But like I say dryer months yes
Wetter months big No
I hope this helps anyone making a decision I try to be fair a honest
Friendly welcome and great course
Always worth a visit. Friendly folks at reception and a great course to enjoy, not hilly so if you are looking for a recovery round this is a god one.
Bandit golf
Nice course good pace of play 3.5 hours friendly staff
Not for long hitters
This was my first visit to SO (Stratford Oaks), and on the hole £29 was a fair price. I would have felt a little "short changed" if I had to pay the normal visitor rate of £40, but golfnow had a special T slot so I took advantage.
The greens were the let down, yes large and in the main relatively flat, but they had suffered from dry weather as the groundstaff had spiked and then sand dressed them, which meant they were suffering from a cabbage patch feel.
The course was a little short (5,800 from the yellows) which we were told we had to play. This made it a medium drive followed by nothing more than a 9 iron (in most cases).
So, would I play it again, yes, but not at £40, and only if I was looking for a practice round and not a challenge.
