Worst Value Course of All Time

i’ll start this by saying I frequent cheap Atlanta city courses that have bad conditions, poor pace and broken carts. But I was never expecting that to be the case here. I have never been more disappointed in a course in my life. To start, I booked for 120 for two people and when I showed up I learned I owed another 30 for a cart fee. Sure that may be on their website but most courses on golfnow have the full price with cart in the total.

The starter was nice but was literally asking me to hit the ball before the group ahead of us even put their clubs in their bag. I would have thought for 70 a person for 9 that there would be literally any amount of room between the group before and behind us. We were getting hit into all day because of this.

The conditions were not the worst i’ve ever played but why on a 9 hole for 70 a person do they have the stupid plastic rims around every hole. Are they really incapable of recutting holes for 9 holes every so often so they don’t have to use the plastic rims?

Most of the fairways use ground so hard that it feels like hitting off thin carpet on concrete. I mean I have played city owned courses with better grass underneath.

And back to that 30 dollar cart fee, our gps didn’t even work and the starter tried troubleshooting it before we just drove off because there were literally already people on the tee box waiting for us to tee off before we drove off the first tee.

I beg you all please stop giving this place money. There are so many better value courses in Atlanta that actually act like they want you there. PLEASE go somewhere else

A+ experience

We only played nine yesterday, but wow was it worth it. The course was in great shape, especially for this early in the season. The range and practice facilities are excellent, the golf shop has great merch and the staff was very friendly. I’d highly recommend the course and would suggest walking. It’s easy to walk and you really catch the scenes as move around the course. We played the Magnolia loop. Can’t wait to go back and play the Azalea.

Walked

Overpriced

$70 to walk 9 holes? I assumed for that price I would get a cart. My bad, I know but that is crazy. Extremely slow play and not a marshal in sight. It's only a 5 minute drive from my home, but I will not be back. I can drive 25 minutes and pay half the price for 18 holes and play a course just as nice.

Pace of play…slow

Overall, a fantastic afternoon! Bobby Jones is a great course, great layout, and the greens are in epic condition. They do tend to put a lot more folks out than the course can hold… Which on a weekend afternoon tends to slow down play. It was about 3 1/2 hours to play nine holes. They understand it, had corn hold and the beverage cart out on the par three where the big delay was. It’s worth it… Just know what you’re getting into! Weekend, early mornings, weekdays off peak, the course is epic and you can get around quickly… Saturday and Sunday afternoons… Of course it’s gonna be slow. Still Worth the cost.

Course condition that fay

The major issue is that the course should not have been open because of all of the rain. They only indicated that there wouldn’t be any golf carts because there were puddles by golf path, but in fact there were actual large.Puddles in several fairways, the course was mushy and saturated from the thick to the greens. Ultimately as a responsible golfer that respects the course you couldn’t take a practice swing because you would be creating muddy debts, and in an attempt to try not to damage the course too much you were topping the ball because you were trying to hit the ball without touching the ground. It also was extremely messy as muddle all over your golf shoes plash back onto your attire. I would’ve much rather have rescheduled than have played that course, but of course they did not indicate it was like that throughout so you got on the course and started it with the hopes that it was just the first polar two.

Better communication communications under certain weather circumstances

I have played this course before several times and it’s a good course

But today was a very unsatisfying experience because the course was soaked. They mentioned no cart in the clubhouse because there’s some puddles, but did not mention that every part of every hole was soaked so everything was squishy from tea box to most greens. Which meant unless you did not care about the course, you didn’t take practice swings because you would take a chunk out of the ground. You try not to take chunks out of the ground so half the time you’re topping the ball. You get soaked with mud and water with some of the swings because it’s just that we wet. Your game is completely shortened because the soaked surface does not lend itself distance wise to your normal game. Bottom line we should’ve been told at check-in. It’s very slushy. It’s very wet. We’re not doing golf carts so you have to play at your discretion or reschedule. Had I known that the course was in that condition prior to getting on the first tea box I would’ve rescheduled for another day.

First visit

Well kept up course, helpful staff, convenient location. The price is very high for the simple nature and length of the course. Almost $50 for 9 holes.

The best public golf inside i285

I'm reading through some of the negative reviews and they just have no water to them.

Pace is fine, but may be slow on weekends, especially afternoons. This is just a normal thing to expected for public golf during peak hours.

Golf cart fee is high at $30, but the course is quite walkable. I think they keep the fee high to reduce cart traffic on the track. Which works because the courses conditions are excellent.

Layout is brilliant for golfers learning to actually play golf. The magnolia course(played on ODD Numbered calendar days) is designed to play a fade/cut the entire 9 holes. You should literally play a fade every single shot. The azaelea course is played on even number calendar days and is designed to play a draw on every single shot. In my opinion, this is a fantastic way to let golfers go with one singular feel the entire round and try to shoot close to par.

You also get free range balls with the cost of your round. It's a little high for a nine hole course, but it's worth the price. Walk and enjoy the flatest golf course in Georgia.

Well maintained but overcrowded

I felt the course was maintained very well. Not many weeds. The greens were nice. It was my first time there and the staff were ok but the marshal on the course was a little off-putting and not really the friendliest in my opinion. Not mean but made the person I was playing with feel bad for being a new golfer and needing more time. Also the course layout isn’t great in my opinion and was confusing. Probably won’t go back.

A lot of Good at the Bobby Jones Course

The facility is great. On the golf front, the pace of play was very slow and there were no efforts by the staff to speed it up. The cost for 9 holes with a cart ends up being about $80 dollars.

On the positive side, the course was in very good shape. The grass was solid everywhere and the greens were in very good condition. The multiple tee options are excellent for all levels.

The facilities offer a lot. A free putting course, a nice driving range, a nice putting green. A nice snack shack and restaurant. The history and bobby jones room are a nice touch.

I would return. The price is a bit steep and the pace of play was slow.

9 Holes, 3 Hours

Course was in good condition but the pace of play was horrendous. It took 3 hours to finish 9 holes in 93° heat. If I’m going to pay $65 for 9 holes on a hot day, please have the ranger keep things moving.

No Value For Money

Bobby Jones - Whilst I have already send an email to the course Director, I must say that this course charges so much money for 9 holes and then $30 for the club car yet there is no value for money. The water tank Brush for the Irons cleaning had no water. No sand provided to fill the divot. The Beverage cart comes very late whilst it is summer and people sometimes needs a drink and don't want to carry one from home. This is a neighborhood course and I always supported it but they need to pay attention to detail.
