Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Course needs water

A little disappointed after reading previous reviews. A lot of brown areas due to lack of water. Some tee boxes hard & fairways not like in past w/ good lies on the zoysia grass. Greens best part but keep it below hole or you’ll be having a fast putt. Got a GN deal, would not pay regular rate. The course has been in better shape in the past. Also pace of play slow, waiting on a lot of shots. They had a starter but no marshaling during play

Cherokee Run

Have to admit that I love the course layout here. The overall conditions were average at beat with some spot a little rough in the fairways and on certain tee boxes. The green were firm but a little shaggy the day I played. Definitely be below the hole but expect some slow putts. Lot of grain to the greens don’t made reading and putting a bit difficult having not played here in a good while. Staff is great!

Solid Course

Greens - pure with good pace and rollout

Fairways - good shape minus near cart paths

Tees - decent shape for July in Georgia

Staff - very helpful and friendly

It’s worth the drive to Conyers. Hope to play again later in the summer!!

Shaping up nicely!

I used to play here a lot. The course is in great shape considering the recent drought this area has been in. The greens were perfect by most standards-deep green color, very few bare spots and rolling nicely. The fairways are still coming out of dormancy (as it is everywhere in Conyers) but they’re receptive and offer great lies to hit from. There are some fairways that have large bare spots but, your ball should be in these areas anyway ;-). I would love to see the bunker sand replaced or refreshed. Otherwise, I highly recommend this course. You won’t be disappointed.

Great Greens Decent /Sand in Most Traps

Virtually all greens were nicely cut and rolled at fairly consistent speeds. Many of the traps had very good sand which I can vouch for from first hand experience on multiple holes.

Could be a great course

Staff friendly, greens in good shape, fairways needs lots of work (weed control lacking). Ground crew needs to move off the fairways when player are hitting ( it’s hard to hear four in the middle of the fairways with the mowers running!!!!
