Mixed
The pro shop staff was average... not overly impressed. Some of the tee boxes were beaten down. The greens had some type of a chemical on them that made the ball sticky and my putter head gummy.
Good Value Course
I’ve reviewed this course many times and like to give credit where credit is due. The crew at Kings Grant work extremely hard to keep course conditions nice. They are now sodding the tee boxes which is certainly a need. Greens are always in great condition. Easily one of the best value course in Fayetteville.
Best Deal in Fayetteville
King’s Grant had a phenomenal layout that can punish you for being over aggressive. Certainly will allow you to use all your clubs. The course does hold water but the staff have been working to find solutions. Tee boxes need work (finally see some under repair, however wish the temporary boxes with mats never existed) but fairways are in good shape. The greens are always in phenomenal shape which in my opinion makes looking over the tee boxes easier.
Overall for the price and overall condition, not sure if you will find a better deal in the Fayetteville area.
Great layout
The greens were in good condition. The fairways could have been better but just moved the ball to a better spot. Loved the layout especially the par 3’s. But never having played there before it would have been nice to know where the water was on blind shots. Couldn’t see red stakes on some holes. Hit balls into the water when I could have hit a lesser club safely. Would be interesting to play it again knowing what was ahead.
18 on a weekday
My wife and I were visiting family and had the day to golf. We found most of the tee boxes in disrepair. The fairways were ok but lacking a lot of grass.
Very good for a course of $30-40
Considering this course exists in an area of $100-200 rounds, this course is a nice course for what you are paying. The greens are in excellent shape, and are as good or better than most in the Southern Pines / Pinehurst area for public courses. As most previous reviews state, the tee boxes are in need of much repair, but while I was playing, the grounds crew was applying fertilizer to all the greens and tee boxes. What surprised me most was the overall layout of the course. There are lots of elevation changes throughout, which created an enjoyable / challenging layout. The fairways are what I would expect for a course of this price, and I am sure the drought this year has not helped. The concrete portions of the cart paths are in very good shape, when you get to the fairway portions, which are packed dirt, they can be very rough. Overall, I think it is worth what you are paying, and with some improvement on the tee boxes and fairways, could be an excellent low/mid price track.
Always a Pleasure
I visit family here once a year and it always serves as an opportunity to play golf early in the season for a northerner. It’s a challenging layout, has very friendly staff, and the price is right. I highly recommend...
Value Course
I truly believe this course does not get the credit it deserves. The course is well designed and penalizes golfers who cannot hit it straight because it does play tight on many holes. Greens have always been in tremendous shape but I can say today was the fist day ever that they have played this slow. I will however take the trade off as the ball was checking on pitch shots. This course is easily the best value course for the money in Fayetteville.
Great course but the guy who checked us in spent 15 minutes saying we need to pay again even though we paid online he demanded proof. I said it’s you system just look up my tee time and my name should be there with 4 players and no money due. As I pulled my phone out to show him he magically found it but never apologized for holding up everyone!!
