Sad state
Course is in pretty rough shape except for the greens. Pace of play was painfully slow as they just send you off whenever you arrive. No Marshall monitoring anything on course. Fairways just dead and sandy. Could be really nice if they put care into the fairways and maybe leaned into the sand-scape to make it a legitimate part of the course, but it’s clear it’s just dead fairway and horribly bumpy lies. The layout has so much potential. If you’re going to play on post, just go to Ryder, night and day difference.

Great day for golf. The greens were in good shape and the fairways were ok. The staff is always friendly
Great greens. Interesting layout. Only thing I did not like, 3 golfers on one cart, 2 riding in seats,one golfer hanging on back, just showed up in front of us on the back 9.
Stryker strikes out
Course was dry and rough. Spend some money on fixing cart paths, golf carts, etc too. More sand and dirt than grass, even in fairways Grass that was there needs water and care. Greens were not bad. Staff person in pro shop was a little gruff and couldn’t hear a thing. Prices in here should be lower than full retail. Mark everything at minimum markup and sell the heck out of the stuff. Wasn’t impressed with much. I’ve played around the world and at MANY military courses. This one was in the bottom third.
Over played
The course could use some restriction. There are many bare spots throughout the course that need attention before a play this course again. I would line to see the other course for fort liberty added as it is a much better course to play.
If this is really a donald ross course he would be quite disappointed in what has happened to it. The speed of play was terrible, but only because there couldn't have been a golfer on the course.In front of me that had a handicap under thirty six. The greens were recently errated and the first several holes.The greens were wet.And they left too much sand on the greens.So the ball had it become a sand man golf ball. Just all in all a disappointment.
