West course, grandover
Overall an excellent establishment. Course was in ok shape. Tee boxes were a little rough. Really only complaint was the lack of on course refreshments. Hottest day of the year yet, service bar at the turn was closed, no water on the course and one cart girl that we saw early in the round and again at the end. Understand that people willing to work are hard to come by, but if you want money from folks willing to spend it your gonna have to figure away to work it out
Grandover
Excellent course, very nice staff. The only negative was the 1/2 way house was closed and we did not see the cart person after the 4th hole. It was very hot and we were hungry and thirsty.
Solid All Around
Hadn’t played Grandover, a 13 hcp’er, Course and Greens in great shape, from blue I figured course would be more difficult but worth the money for sure. Might circle back around to West course in a month or two.
Saturday morning fun
Course was in good condition. It was cart path only but still fun. I will play it again soon. Little pricey but worth it.
Nice layout, courteous staff, but brutal pace, hairy greens, & no water
Course is very fair with little trouble off of most tee boxes with bailouts when there is trouble. The layout is great, but the greens hadn’t been mowed or rolled in a while (bent grass) which meant they rolled really slow.
Pace of play was incredibly slow. Without a ranger to help speed things up, it took over 4.5 hours to finish our round. They’re short staffed like everyone else in the world, so it’s understandable. Waited on every tee box for the foursome in front of us.
Halfway house was closed and there are no coolers or beverage carts on the course. Hope you brought some water. The water fountain at the halfway house was broken.
I wouldn’t give this course a nickel more than what I paid given all of the shortcomings. It’s a shame because the people who work here are really nice and courteous.
Water? Food?
Played the West course on 4/11/22
Question at the Pro Shop prior to our round: “is this your first time playing here?”
Our answer: “yes, it is”
Response: “oh great, hope you enjoy it, you’re playing the west course which is across the road”
So off we go. Brought a 32oz water from home, hoping maybe for $76/ea there is a beverage cart with snacks on course. Or if not we’ll just get something at the turn since the small cooler on the side of the cart had been partially filled with ice prior to us taking the cart.
Play 9, get to the turn and we haven’t seen a beverage cart. Not the worst thing ever, courses we play are normally hit or miss on having one. Roll up to the restaurant at the turn…big sign in the window: “CLOSED”. The kicker: the water fountain was off and the bathrooms were locked. So in my head I’m thinking “Oh alright, that’s weird, but it’s cool, we’ll just go to the pro shop/restaurant/pub at the main hotel area.” Happens to be some maintenance guys there getting ready to do some landscaping so we ask them how far to the pro shop and restaurant…their reply, “oh it’s a long way, I don’t know why this restaurant isn’t open or why the water fountain is off or bathrooms aren’t unlocked…we can’t even use them either if we need to.” So we say, “oh well, we’re going to truck it to the pro shop restaurant”. Look it up on the phones how far away it is…needless to say when you are the the turn between the front and the back you’re probably the furthest away from the main area as possible. At this point I’m getting a little more upset. It’s about 78-80 degrees outside and quite warm so my original 32oz of water is gone and I’m parched. So we’re doing the math on how long it will take to get to the hotel and back to the 10th hole…it doesn’t even make sense to do it. So we give the pro shop a call and the response is something to the effect of: “oh yeah, the restaurant at the turn is closed….nope, we don’t have any water coolers…nope, we don’t have any options for food or drinks or getting it to you.” Long story short, would have been nice if when we said this was our first time playing at Grandover someone wouldh give us the skinny on the food/drink/bathroom situation. The course was in fine shape and getting ready for everything to green up, greens were nice and firm. Overall it’s a nice course, but just left little to be desired for a return. Would not come back.
Great track Fairway just starting to grown in from winter but ruff is still dormant greens were good will definitely play again
Greensboro must play
Great course. Layout is fantastic. Rolling hills, plenty of trees and sand. Greens are full and plenty of undulations but not crazy. Decent amounts of water coming into play. Played in early April so conditions were not peak but well worth the 70 bucks it cost to play. I will definitely be back to play again.
Nice course
Course was very enjoyable to play. Visited from Michigan in February and was nice change from home. Very much enjoyed the layout and views from tees. Nice challenge on every hole but very fair.
