Exceeded expectations!
Have played numerous times over last 4 years. Have seen the course evolve from an understaffed “D” status to a course that has improved dramatically. Biggest negatives are tee boxes that tend to be difficult to insert your tee due to lack of watering (rock hard) and rough cart paths particularly on the back nine. The sand traps need attention also. Positives include an extremely challenging round from any of the tee boxes, a shot makers course - demands club selection awareness to manage your game. Keeping ball in play is key to enjoying a good round so be prepared to go through all your clubs to avoid well placed water hazards, elevation changes, and managed tee shots. Course can be as difficult or easy as you choose. Overall a great value! Will be back frequently in the future.
Great Course
I’ve played this course a few times now and it’s always been really nice! The price is amazing for the condition of the course and have never had a slow pace of play. Highly recommend this course!
Fun and challenging 18
The course is in good shape, not pristine but good. There are a couple of really long par-fives and the course is challenging. I would recommend playing here. Great value for the money.
Perfect
Perfect, had the course to myself(sort of) at 10am. No rush, no waiting. Course in good condition for winter. Enjoyed every bit, despite the long drive to get there.
The course is well worth the money. The staff treat you very well. I really liked the course layout.
lot of fun
course played very fairly. expected wetter conditions but was pleasantly surprised
Outstanding value
Hidden gem - plays short but tight, making for lots of interesting club choices off tees. Fairways were in good shape and greens were pristine. Sounds like they've put a lot of effort into getting the course into good playing shape, and it shows. Outstanding value for the money.
A Very Nice Track, Fun Course.
This is a nice track. The course was in very good condition other then a few tee boxes needing some TLC and a couple of greens had some bald spots. The fairways were nice, being from Canada I found the grass very unusual and the ball seemed to sink into it quite a bit. The greens were firm but held very well and were a consistent throughout the day. They also rolled true and birdie putts were possible. The sand traps were not playable as they did not look like they had been attended to for quite sometime. I choose to lift, rake and place the ball rather then drop outside the bunker and found this was a fair way to play, happy I only had to do it twice.
The fairways are generously wide and forgiving and the rough was not really that rough at all. I played the blue tees and due to the number of dog legs left and right I found myself with a long iron in my hand more times then not. This is not a bad thing, it forces you to manage your game and I choose to play a conservative round.
I did not find the staff there to be very friendly and they seemed unhappy I booked through Golf Now and stated they were finished with Golf Now in March 2019.
I would golf here again should I be in the area as the golf course did not have the same attitude as the staff.
Good golf for the money
Played 10/25/18 and course was in great shape and greens rolled true. Stay away from the rough it will cost you strokes.
The River is a decent course with an Interesting layout, excellent greens and good fairways, however cart paths and tee boxes need some maintenance.
You’ll have a chance to test out your 3 wood and long irons/hybrids off several tees including the par 5 10th hole as well as a driveable par 4 on the front nine where driver, even from the blue tees would be too much club to hold the fairway/green. If you catch a good deal..less than $20...I would recommend checking it out!
reslly nice!
greens are recovering very well. layout makes you think, fairways are in great shape, new carts and excellent staff.
