Great golf at a great price
I drive from Hickory (30 min away) at least once a week to play here. The value you get for your dollar goes further and the course and views are great.
Staff is as friendly as it gets, plenty of selection in pro shop and the grill is perfect for a bite at the turn
Fun Layout
Silver Creek is a really fun layout. There are alot of elevation changes, and is very similar to a mountain course. It is very fun to play. Its a little short from the white tees but alot of uphill holes play longer than the distance, and their doesnt seem to be alot of downhill holes other than par 3s! It has been a couple of years since I played it last and its not quiet in as good a shape as I remember. The greens are smooth and fast. About 1/2 the bunkers are unplayable and maybe set for repair. The fairways were very tight, and the grass wasnt growing good in them yet. The tees were pretty beat up. The areas outside of the fairway on several holes was also in pretty rough shape. All in all its a fun place to play, and the rate has went up some, so I feel like its not a great value.
needs work
the bermuda greens are relatively new and still bumpy and slow. Some bunkers have sand, but most are either gravel or dirt. Tee and fairway grass is a mix of common bermuda and fescue and not well maintained. Rough and areas around the greens are overgrown. This has been and could be a much better course, but it needs a lot of work.
Course not up to standard
I've played this course at least a dozen times over the past three years. The course condition is the worst I've see it.
From tee to green course is in very good condition. However, all greens are pockmarked with many unrepaired ball marks, and many greens have large and small bare areas. It was hard to find a line of more than 4 feet free from such blemishes.
The bunkers are a disgrace for a course of this caliber. I've never been impressed with the condition of the bunkers. Most of the bunkers have been filled with crusher run rocks and apparently are going to remain as "unplayable." The greens that are somewhat playable are either filled with rocky gravel, or just river sand. There isn't a single bunker on the course that has fine, white sand. Not good for a course of "championship" caliber.
They've also raised their green fees. The member I played with said the course is usually very busy and the owners have no intention of fixing the problems. Too bad.
Challenging
Beautiful golf course that will challenge all aspects of your game. It’s fair but difficult. Lots of elevation changes, few flat lies, and severely undulating greens but fairly forgiving for errant shots. Course was in very good shape aside from several bunkers that are being redone due to drainage/irrigation issues. The views on the course are gorgeous. It’s a treat coming home and being able to play here.
Great layout, challenging
Bunkers are all being rebuilt for better drainage, which should be finished early this spring. A fun layout with challenging greens. Most fairways are pretty wide but greens are small and quick. Lots of elevation change. Just a really fun course. Staff very friendly.
Great course, in great shape
I have seen this course in good and not so good condition, but for winter golf its in great shape! Traps still under construction as they work on improving drainage but what’s not to like here? Food is great and course is challenging but fun. Plus I won all the money today!
Course
Course was great. Good pace good staff good experience
Challenging but fun
This beautiful mountain course will use every club in your bag. It’s not a bomber’s paradise, nor is it target golf. It’s a nice blend of shots mixed in with nice semi-fast greens. The course is in very nice condition except for the bunkers... those are basically unplayable red clay. The staff was very friendly, and they had a good selection of food/ drink options at the turn. I’ll definitely be returning...
Silver Creek
Nice layout, friendly staff and the course was in great shape with the exception of a few sand traps. I definitely plan to go back. If you want to play a fair and tough course then Silver Creek is worth your time.
Tough but fair
Good layout for this course. The greens were in good shape with some tough pin placements that made it a bit more challenging. The only downside was most of the bunkers were not in playable condition. Otherwise the course would have been extremely nice for the price point.
Post flooding round
Didn't have great expectations for the course conditions after the flooding earlier this week but I was pleasantly surprised, no plugged balls or sloppy lies even in areas that have been problematic in the past. Well done.
Don’t Listen to RicksGolf8844
The greens are just recovering from fall aeration 2 weeks ago. Many of the bunkers are not playable because they’re being repaired/replaced currently. AkA New management is investing in this gem.
If you like mountain golf with elevation changes and views, you will not find a better deal.
RickGolf— let me know if you want to play again. I’ll cover your green fees but we’ll play $100/hole and see how it turns out.

Needs a lot of work
Tee boxes are fair to good, fairways good, but greens need a lot of work and omg the bunkers are extremely horrible!!!!!! Greens look like haven't been plugged or anything in yrs !!!!!!
Scenic and challenging coourse
This is a very scenic course with just the right challenges. This is a mountain course, strongly recommend.
A Hidden Gem in the Mountains
A week away in the mountains was made all the better by this beautiful and reasonably priced course. Tons of elevation. Amazing views off the tee boxes. Temperature stays moderate and the fairways are lush. The bunkers are the only drawback, but at this price, I completely ignored them being sub standard and enjoyed the rounds I played without issue. Right from the start you have a long Par 4 with at least 100 yds of elevation gain. It's adjacent to number 10 which plays about the same uphill and is slightly longer. Hole 2 then does a flip flop and gives you about 100 yds downhill off the teebox, but this time it's a Par 5 and water waits about 235-240 out, just 10 yds past the landing area. Then its a full 90 degree turn and another 200 to the green with the water running up the right the whole way home. Easily my favorite hole on the course. There are some fun par 3's sprinkled in as well with massive downhills off the tee. Even the range at Silver Creek has a gigantic down then uphill slope to hit into and some water on the left about 200 out. Great folks in the clubhouse too with a nicely stocked pro shop. Can't oversell the views either. Amazing vistas of the surrounding mountains from all over the course. Truly a hidden gem that I can't wait to get back and play.
