About
Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

Great course for value
Great views. Sometimes it was difficult with holes next to each other. Pace was great until slower team ahead of us took more than normal time allotted. Overall would visit again and definitely recommend it others.

Great Golf course on the beach.
Challenging course for all levels. Greens were a bit fast. The course is well maintained. Definitely play there again.

Don’t try to over power this course!
The starter told me that the course was hard. He said don’t try to over power thus course because she will eat your balls every time. He meant well and I took his advice. I didn’t hold back but I didn’t play for distance. Instead I played for accuracy on every hole. My score was 85 ( I am a lady golfer with 25 handicap). I was very pleased.

Nice Change of Pace
Four of us played in a late morning Tuesday. We were told by the very affable starter to play our strategy game, that driver is not always the best play. And they are right! We usually play and enjoy Currituck Club with Kilmalic or The Point sprinkled in. Nice variability with elevations, doglegs and lots of water. Be prepared to drop a few ball. Had a great round and even with slower players two groups ahead we finished in four and a half. Course in great shape with bunkers filled with nice homogeneous mix. They have cut back many of the reeds so the blind shots we were warned about were bit there. Refreshment cart came through 3times in our 18 so we stayed hydrated and banter with the hosts were positive. Overall, we will play again and recommend to others.

Loving the links
Just a great layout, beautiful views and kept in amazing shape. 1st few days after aeriation, so greens were bumpy and slow but next week they should be better.

Great layout
Great layout. Course was crowded the day I played and was very crowded due to the fact that the back nine was closed because of maintenance. I look forward to playing again when I’m in town. The only negative was the greens had just been punched and where difficult to putt.

Great OBX Golf Experience
Don’t let the short scorecard yardage fool you. The wind off the sound and the positioning of sand dunes and other hazards make the course play a lot longer. Definitely a course that’ll put you to a decision off the tee instead of allowing you to mindlessly pound driver all day. Course was in great shape too. Looking forward to playing again when I come to OBX.
