About
Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

Great little course
I love the course and even though it looks short the wind and creeks create a challenge. The greens are extremely fast and in great shape!!

They need to cut back the ridiculous brush extensively, especially along the 4th fairway.

Pro shop staff untruthful
We have played here many times. Usually we love it. We were informed we’d start on back nine. No problem. Course maintenance. Ok. I specifically ask, you didn’t just aerate greens? Pro shop employee said, no. Ok. Well he was lying. The front nine greens had just been punched. Don’t appreciate him being dishonest.

Always play when in OBX
Great time as always, but pro shop was bare this year and gentleman working inside could be more welcoming to guests.

Hard But Fun
Loved this course but as a beginner, wow I lost a lot of golf balls. But a beautiful way to spend an afternoon along the sound.

Nice day on the links
The greens were bumpy from aeration but held nicely with the sand treatment. The fairways were in great shape while there were several tees that could have been mowed lower. Overall I enjoyed the round.

Fun course to play
Very scenic course. Plays longer than the scorecard yardage. Especially if it’s windy. Here recently aerated but healing nicely.

Not informed
We made the reservation through GolfNow and showed up about 30 min early to use the driving range. When we went to the pro shop, the rude employee told us the driving range was closed and we could only play the back 9 due to course aeration.
I checked the website before we made the reservation and there was NO information stating either of these issues. When my husband asked the employee about coming back a different day (he didn't ask for a refund), he was told no. Seemed to be a legit and easy reschedule, but like I said, the employee was just rude.
The course is pretty but with workers like this and not updating the website with course info, we won't be back. Be sure to call the course you choose to play. Lesson learned. Duck Woods was beautiful and a fantastic staff.
