Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

Enjoyed the challenge!

My second time playing at Nags Head during a golfing road trip! The course was in great shape. Weather was cool, but warmer than Western Maryland at this time of year. I enjoy the variety of yardage and find the links design a challenge to my strategy. Some water features require thoughtful setup for me. Love the views!

Vacation golf

Vacation golf can sometimes be expensive and disappointing. Fortunately, neither one was the case on this round of golf.. the course was in immaculate condition and the people there on staff as usual were very friendly and accommodating. The course was beautiful. Prepaid the day before. Could not get a refund. Arrived to find out the front 9 was closed. Driving range was closed. What I got to play was extremely nice. But, it would have been nice to know when scheduling half the course was closed. There are a lot of nice courses here, could have scheduled for a different day and golfed somewhere else that day.
