Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

Greens had sand put down just before we played, was no mention about it before teeing off. Should have gotten a discount due to this, otherwise the course was in great shape.

Very Nice Course

Very windy day with a cold north wind blowing. That alone made the course much more difficult. Course was in great condition. Greens have many subtle breaks which I had trouble seeing. Wind even affected some putts

Several holes were worthy of taking pictures which I did.

Only thing bad I have to say about the round has to do with the group behind me. Since I was playing as a single the starter allowed me to go ahead of a group of 8. On the first hole 2 of the guys decided to tee off while I was hitting my second shot. I almost got hit by one of the drives. This negatively affected my round for the next 4 or 5 holes. Hard to play golf when you're angry. After I calmed down I went from making bogies to making pars. Finished the round with an 84. Should have been easily below 80 if not for the bad start influenced by the first hole careless golfers hitting into me.

Would like to play the course again under slightly calmer conditions.

Great course, pace of play sucks, easy par 3s

Course was in great shape, staff was awesome, but pace of play was brutal. Only complaint outside of pace of play... the par 3s are a little too easy. One of our guys accidentally made a hole-in-one on 10. Might want to toughen that up a bit.

Always try to play when on the Outer Banks. Course in good condition for spring golf. Winds picked on the back nine along the sound side of the course. Still able to complete in 4 hours.
