About
Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

Yeah it’s on the water...but that’s it.
I was never informed before or after paying the remainder in the clubhouse that the greens were very very recently (like day before) punched.

Bring your A-Game
The course reads good on paper, but it will really fool you. Tight fairways, next to the water with wind make it extremely challenging. Many lay up shot make the course longer. And there's plenty of sand, water and blind shots to make you think. A must play, but bring a few extra balls.

Always fun
My wife and I play here every time we visit the Outer Banks. You can count on a fun day whenever you play here.
The fairways were in really good shape. The greens had just been aerated so were not as good as usual but still played reasonably.

Challenging but enjoyable until the end
The problem with Nags Head is they do not have a Ranger and the last two times we played we would quit towards the end of the round due to very slow play. Both time as we drove through the last few holes we found a five some and a six some respectively holding everyone up; so we quit playing.

A great day on the course. Didn’t score great but had a great time and the views were gorgeous. A pretty challenging course but also fair. Fast greens but they rolled really true. Entire course is in great shape. Highly recommend

Beautiful ocean views
Great course! Impeccable greens, the course overall was in great shape. There each hole offers different challenges, most fairways are somewhat tight with plenty of hazards to get you in trouble. Most importantly water is in play on 13 /18 holes (lakes,streams,ocean) so bring an extra sleeve if you like taking risks! Looking forward to playing there again soon.
