Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

An OBX favorite

This was my second time through the course (first time 8 years ago) and really enjoyed the track again. Playing at 5700 and change it was a great time battling the winds and showers over the weekend. Course bounces back from rain so well you could barely tell condition-wise.

Played 5 rounds this weekend and this is probably the favorite course. Great views, can play a little target golf and staff is awesome.

Great course to play

Not crazy about links courses because I like to use driver on all par 4 and 5’s but this course was a blast to play.. it was in great shape and the starter was very helpful and friendly. Lost 2 balls because it was my first time here and shot 86. Highly recommended. I thought the green fees were a little high but this is a resort area so that’s understandable. Very Covid-safe setup and I really enjoyed my round..

Fun Course!

My son and I played Nags head Golf Links for the First time on Memorial Day. We had a great time. The course is a lot of fun and has terrific views of the sound from many of the holes. The course is fairly short from the tips but the significant wind invites a lot of strategy and risk/reward opportunities. We are looking forward to playing again!

Great Day

Just a really fun day today! I played as a single and was able to go off the back nine to begin the day and as a result played the round in just under three hours. It would’ve been faster, but I caught the morning crew on my 14th hole. Otherwise I probably would have played in 2 hours.

Course was in generally good shape for this time of year. The greens were recently aerated, but they were rolling pretty decently.

Temperature was great, but as usual down here the winds were blowing which played havoc. Nonetheless a great day

Great course

Terrific course... love the layout... but not for the feint of heart. If you have trouble getting to fairways off the tee box, leave your driver in the car. And if it is windy, as it was for us, just stop worrying about your score and enjoy the outing. Course was in great shape and it’s February... Great views... friendly staff.
