The Crystal Coast Country Club sits along the Bogue Sound, sprawling across sand dunes and weaving through the Maritime Forest. The club boasts the only golf course on the 21-mile island of Pine Knolls Shores. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the course doesn't have the length that some other championship layouts have but there are still plenty of challenges in store. In addition to bunkers that are strategically placed along the small greens and narrow fairways, water comes into play on 13 holes. Though there are some tight spots that can be tough to navigate, the golf course is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy. Regardless of ability, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful scenery, especially on the back nine where you'll have the best views of the Sound.

Tough course

Honestly, I would leave my driver at home if I played this course again. This course requires perfect ball placement and not the grip and rip mentality. Fairways are narrow and the wind was up today(which made it even more difficult). I used my 3wood and hybrids to keep the ball lower so the wind wouldn’t put it in the wrong fairway or in the water. All in all I will be back to beat my score(hopefully)

Fun Course

This club has made some improvements since I last played it about 10 years ago. The greens are in excellent condition, especially for this time of year. And they’re quick.

The layout is interesting and quite tricky, especially from the tee, where you sometimes need to fit it into fairways, either around or over trees. And the wind is a big factor, as it blows all the time.

I really enjoyed playing here. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend you play this course if you are in the area.
