The Crystal Coast Country Club sits along the Bogue Sound, sprawling across sand dunes and weaving through the Maritime Forest. The club boasts the only golf course on the 21-mile island of Pine Knolls Shores. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the course doesn't have the length that some other championship layouts have but there are still plenty of challenges in store. In addition to bunkers that are strategically placed along the small greens and narrow fairways, water comes into play on 13 holes. Though there are some tight spots that can be tough to navigate, the golf course is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy. Regardless of ability, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful scenery, especially on the back nine where you'll have the best views of the Sound.

greens

The greens were in poor shape . The grass was high they were very slow The areation holes were still exposed and not dressed with sand. This problem with the greens should have a price reduction

Overall great course

Loved this course since the first time I played it years ago. Greens had just been punched and dressed with sand so it was almost impossible to read putts and get a consistent speed. Other than that the course was in great shape as usual, would recommend playing here if you're in the area.

Just Average

I booked this on a day when was they were actually aerating the greens and fairways. The back nine was closed, and I was required to play the front nine twice.

The pro shop was tucked in very small corner of the clubhouse and not well marked. The attendant was not very helpful with instructions or directions. The most helpful person at the facility was the cart worker.

The course was just ok. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to play the more scenic holes on the sound. I would have rather saved my money and played a cheaper option.

The best

Can’t say enough about this course. The layout, the scenery, the greens, course of play, and the most awesome staff! Have enjoyed this sport for many years, and this course is well worth the 2.5 hour trip to play. Will be back for sure!

So much fun in spite of the gales!

Crystal Coast offers a great mix of tight ‘resort course’ routing with a few good ‘hitters’ holes. It was so much fun to play in spite of the 20 MPH plus winds that day. There is just something interesting about aiming 15 yards right and watching the ball move sideways toward the target. Yes, there were a few spotty patches in the fairways, but all else was pretty nice. Go visit.

Staff

Staff were very friendly and helped make my experience excellent. Mark, the starter was particularly attentive to my desire to find someone with whom to play, which ended up being new golfing friends.

Crystal Coast

Challenging course! The first time I played was last year and pace of play was an issue. However, I returned this year and the pace was managed very well by the staff. Great course!

Not worth what they charge

For $90 you’d expect a lot better. Save your money and go to Beaufort Club or somewhere else.
