Crystal Coast Country Club
About
The Crystal Coast Country Club sits along the Bogue Sound, sprawling across sand dunes and weaving through the Maritime Forest. The club boasts the only golf course on the 21-mile island of Pine Knolls Shores. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the course doesn't have the length that some other championship layouts have but there are still plenty of challenges in store. In addition to bunkers that are strategically placed along the small greens and narrow fairways, water comes into play on 13 holes. Though there are some tight spots that can be tough to navigate, the golf course is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy. Regardless of ability, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful scenery, especially on the back nine where you'll have the best views of the Sound.

Nice course for the money. Played early in the morning with another single. It rained so we stopped after nine holes and they gave us a nine hole rain check which I used later that week. Definitely need to know the course - it is tight and has some water in areas - and if you don't know where - you're wet. Staff was okay, amenities okay - but I was there to play golf. Greens where good, fairways green, no real issues - its a golf course on an island known for it's beaches. There are some holes on the water that are beautiful. Not extremely long and the greens are true. If you're looking for a country club course on the mainland this is not it. It's in good condition and the greens were small but great. It is a fun challenging course you should play while on vacation in the SOBX. I'll play it again next year.
Played here for sentimental reason.
I used to play here when the course was Bogue Banks CC with my Father-in-law. He passed away last year from cancer. His eldest son and I decided to play a round in his honor. Started out good with cart guy bring cart out to our car. Check in was easy also. Course was in fair shape, not as nice as it used to be.
Although it was height of tourist season, there was no beverage cart. Play was slow after first few holes and didn't see a course Marshall.
Most irritating thing is we finished playing and went into clubhouse at 3:20 for a sandwich and a beer and we're told they quit serving food at 3:00. That negated any positive aspects of playing there. When I get done playing, I like to cool down in th clubhouse with a sandwich and a beer.
Next summer we'll play the Annual Lee Brown Golf Challenge elsewhere.
Rain out
We only played 3 holes before we got rained out - but as usually staff super friendly - course fun
Wonderful Atlantic Beach area golf course
If you're in Atlantic Beach, you've got to play this course. Awesome staff there. Very friendly and helpful. The driving range is short, only good for wedges. Course had some bald spots, but the greens were excellent. Beautiful water views all around the course.
Flags EVERYWHERE!!!
Sheldon Cooper would love this course. NO 18 hole golf course should have more than 18 flags around the greens. This course does due to soccer golf???? It has more than twice the flags. Could not tell where to hit from the tee and at times from fairway! Also trees over hanging already tight fairways. The oaks need to be trimmed back severely and fairway better defined by rough Layout seemed very good and greens excellent but we left after 9 holes due to the above. Please rethink the flag and tree situation.
TLC needed
A beautiful layout convenient for beach goers that needs some money and TLC put into it. Great views, ok greens, but the fairways are sparse and bare. They added soccer golf to the course, and the flags and tees for that confuse the layout. Maybe fertilizer and punching the fairways would give them more grass for traditional and soccer golf. I've played this course at least 6 times and this was the most disappointing.
Good Course with great views
Not a bad course, but given the location with all of the money on the island, I was expecting more of a world class type course which this course has the ability to be, but it is in need of an infusion of capital, and a lot of TLC.
Best Course in the Area
I vacation in Emerald Isle every year. The last few years I've tried to play some of the other courses in the area besides, the Country Club of Crystal Coast just to see how they compare and there is no comparison. The other courses were in poor condition compared to CC of CC. They layout and scenery at CC of CC is 10 times better than any of the other local courses within 20 miles. After this year I've decided when I come back to Emerald Isle the only course I'm playing is this one.
Fun Outin
Good layout and great location. Narrow fairtways. Lots of water and traps. Moderate level of difficulty.
Morning Round
The course is tight so your drives and irons need to be accurate. There is little room for error. I loved the challenge. Lots of water and bunkers around the greens. Distances are mid range. Not short but not excessively long. Good draining course. We had 4 plus inches of rain two days earlier and the course was dry. Greens are fast but hold when you hit into them. The layout of the course requires you to use strategy while playing. If you plan on blasting away on every shot you better bring a lot of balls.
always a great course
Its a yearly must go for me.
Every time I'm in the outer banks I enjoy a visit to this lovely course
its very well cared for with lots of local flora and fauna , even some visiting Canada Geese.
The staff are naturally warm and welcoming.
it's a must do!!!!!!!!!!
Beachfront Course.
Course was in decent shape for time of year. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape. Very tight fairways and somewhat short course. Nice views to be had while playing.

Course was fun to play. Had many water holes and greens were slick.....
Nice place on the Crystal Coast
Played this course during wonderful weather in late February 2017. Course was in good shape; greens in good condition. Would play again!
Member for a day
The course was in good shape for this time of year. We played in a little more than 3 hours. Staff was very nice and we were given a card to be a member for the day.
Great back 9!
Decent course in a great location right on the ICW, some beautiful views on a few holes. First 9 holes are packed pretty tight together but are challenging and worthwhile. This course really shines on the back 9. Great and sometimes very unique hole layouts that were challenging and fun. Good value for the price and very welcoming and courteous staff. Will play here again.
Golfers beware you
Beautiful location. Too bad this course isn't up to par. I was quite disappointed in the course . I drove 2 hours for a course that should be about $20. If you just want to practice or fool around, this is your place. No driving range. Tee boxes awful. Greens pretty good.
Good hot deal
Beautiful course, fast pace, challenging hole locations, water hazards, pleasant staff
Nice Course
A very enjoyable lay out. Fair but has its tough features.
