Hedingham Golf Club

Played this course a couple months ago for the first time in quite a while, the first since they were acquired by Fred Smith. At the time, the greens were getting better although a few spots were rough and most were pretty bumpy. Fast forward to this time and the greens have filled in nicely. Quick and smooth. Greens staff were working on the bunkers, a move desperately needed: the bunkers are basically just dirt at the moment. Some of the tee boxes aren’t in good shape, some of which can be attributed to the season, others from too little sun, others to poor maintenance. Course layout is pretty good and conditions are good. Be able to work the ball both ways for success. At its current rate of progress, this course should be in great shape for the spring and will jump into the upper half of courses in the Raleigh area. Keep it up.

Good course in really good shape. Course was way overbooked and had to wait about 20 minutes to just get a cart. Pace of play was extremely slow.

I looked up different courses to see what the fees were. Hedingham's Senior rate was the same on Friday as the rest of the week. When we got to the course we were told that there was no Senior rate on Friday. I went home and checked the web-site and it showed the same rate. I called the manager who told me that was a mistake. I told him that we had paid $30 on a Friday a month earlier. He said it was a mistake. Other courses that are nicer and less expensive.

What would otherwise be a lovely course was spoiled by the hundreds of houses immediately on the course. The priority here was clearly to build as many small lots with smallish houses right on a golf course. You must cross one or more roads between each hole.

Hedingham is a nicely conditioned, reasonably challenging course. I played there many times, with no major complaints. Friday was really busy and backed up, which was expected for a nice fall Friday day. Overall, I will continue to playing there.

This is a great go-to course during the week. The pace of play is excellent. The greens can be a little fast, but manageable. The course is challenging but very well-suited for intermediate to average golfers. Great weather and great golf day.

Okay, I obviously don't play on the PGA but, if i did i would be begging to slow the greens down and give them some bounce. Enough said. Another fantastic day of golf with class people and a wonderful staff. Next time I'll bring bumpers.

3rd time playing the course. This course wraps through neighborhoods.

In general this course is slightly better condition than most. Has some interesting holes and challenges. Would play it more often except it is other side of town for me.

All 3 times 1st hole kills me. Tough hole to start on.

I just started golfing this season and have played Hedingham twice. The layout is well balanced between “letting the big dog eat” and the need to lay up. Accuracy is rewarded by well kept fairways and greens; though the sand traps’ poor drainage often turns them to water hazards. Overall a great course to play for veterans to stay interested and beginners ready to be challenged.

The close proximity of the houses were simply intimidating to a novice golfer as myself. Fairways are narrow and if you hit in the rough, chalk it up as lost.

Pace of play was at your own speed, no one rushing you...

Challenging course, but I will return!!

The course is currently in excellent shape. Not too crowded - one of the best deals in Raleigh.

I have played here before. No starter. No ranger. One group tried to jump ahead of us without asking. Poor etiquette.

Rough is too deep for that many blind shots . Even when you can see your ball land- it is hard to find if you hit the rough. When you don’t see your shot land and it finds the rough forget about it. Fairways are narrow on many holes

I know - hit more fairways- but this is not fun golf for a public course.
