RGA Conditions
I have played this course multiple times over 25 years. It is in the worst condition I can remember. Crab grass in fairway, roughs, and on green. No fringe on the green, rough was unfairly long - we are not playing the US Open.
TEACHING ON THE WEEKEND REALLY !
So we teed off and everything was good for the front 9 . The greens were in crab grass shape but not too bad . Then we had a choice on two back nines to go to . We choose the wrong one . There was a Lady out there literally teaching two golfers how to play on a Sunday . She first should have taught golf etiquette but she obviously did not know any and she calls herself a teacher . She slow played for 4 of the back wholes and we said something to let them know how slow they were . Then she came back to lecture us to be patient and she was keeping up with the people ahead of them which was farther from the truth . She was rude and came back and said if you have a problem with it then ask Robert about it . WTF was name dropping going to do . I thought she was coming back to apologize. Never never again am I going to spend 50.00 on a course that is not worth it . Be talked to like I was 4years old and then did not apologize for wasting a extra hour on a Muggy day . Horrible and made it to be our fault .
great course
always a great experience at RGA. Eric, Robert, & Melinda in the pro shop are always very helpful and look out for regulars. Course is always in good shape too.
RGA needs to fix their greens
Love the layout and course but RGA’s greens are a mess. Might as well call it Raleigh Weeds Association with the amount of it. Some parts of the rough also need work but a good course if you can get a hot deal and drink a couple brews.
Not bad for the money
I like the layout of this course and it's really close to home, so I wish it were in better condition. If so, I'd play there a lot more often. Greens were really rough - some of them very overgrown with crabgrass, and tee boxes were pretty beaten up. A couple of the tee boxes looked like they hadn't been mowed in a few days. Otherwise, I enjoyed the course. Fairways were in good shape, staff was very nice, and pace of play wasn't bad.
The greens?
The front nine greens are in terrible shape. The back nine greens have allot of bare spots. Should charge less until they get them fixed.
RGA 8/20
RGA is a decent course and for the price, and compared to the rest of Raleigh courses, it’s a steal. The pace of play was a little slow. I noted a lot of beginners playing from observation, even at an early tee time. No rangers to be seen anywhere to urge faster play. GPS on the carts is a nice feature. Fairways were fairly plush. Didn’t get in any sand so I can’t speak on the bunkers. Some tee boxes were bare and uneven. The greens…some had heavy crabgrass intrusion. Others had little around the apron to no intrusion. My main complaint about the greens would be all the unrepaired ball marks that ruined the greens. Like playing Plinko on the Price Is Right. These golfers can strike a ball with enough accuracy to hit a green but they don’t know how to repair a ball mark? Or they are that lazy, I don’t know. That’s not necessarily the course’s fault, but each tee time should come with a lesson on green repair by the starter.
Would play this course again.
Good day of golf
Conditions of the course were decent. Fairways were in very good condition but the greens were very inconsistent; some good some very bad. Excellent carts with GPS!
Greens
They have got to address the horrid conditions of the greens. Almost unplayable. Play here often.
Greens are weeds
The Course was packed and you had to keep your head on a swivel due to golf balls flying around. Short course and has a fun layout. The greens are full of weeds and old divots so putting was impossible. I probably wouldn’t go back unless they totally replaced the greens.
Good course
I liked the course. Wide open fairways. Course in very good shape. Green’s relatively good shape. Will come back.
Nice course but some greens are in rough shape
Enjoyed playing 18 holes on a hot day. Fairways were in good shape but the condition of the greens was inconsistent. Some good some bad.
Great Value. Enjoyable Track
This was my first outing at RGA. I really enjoyed the course. Busy but not slow. Not too demanding and certainly not long. Greens were a bit rough but not unplayable.
Great place to work on your game. A good short game and decent putting can reward you with a lower than your average score card.
Give it a try.
Slow greens
The course is in great shape for such a hot summer. But the putting greens are inconsistent and slow. They are not a place to lower scores
