Not terrible for the price
Three greens in a row on the start of the back 9 had little or no grass on them. The price of the round made this a little more acceptable but still wouldn’t run back to play here again. A lot of the tee boxes were in rough shape and about half them were tough to get a tee in the ground.
Nice and simple. Classic.
Great course quiet carts. Very open. Hard to lose a ball out of bounds. You can lose it in the rough. The ball just disappears. I found like 6 balls that were in play but likely lost drop mad players. This is possibly a sign that it not mowed low enough. Cart path is completely toasted. Where no cart path is left, there are rocks ranging in size from gravel to golf ball sized to fill in holes. Staff is super nice. Thought they were being excessively nice last time but realize after three trips here that they really are just that nice. Friendliest staff in Wake County IMHO. Many other courses act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to play there. To some degree that's true but I shouldn't pick up on it. No driving range here so if you don't play often your first whack to get the dust off will be on hole 1. If this place had a driving range I would go all the time. Excellent and spacious putting and chipping green. There is space to go back to about 100 yards and practice into the green but I assume that is restricted because you will leave giant ball marks and ruin the chipping experience for others. Tryon is heavy traffic coming off 18 so you can die crossing the street on a workday at 530. I drove all the way back to 13 to get across safely. No easy way to get back there from 18 other than meandering very far from where you really want to go. Owner should pave a shorter way back to the club house off 18 that goes under Tryon safely.
Way overpriced considering the conditions!
Course layout was challenging. Tee times packed but pace of play was a little above average. Course was in horrible shape! Several greens had large patches with no grass, putts were bumpy brown patches. Only distinction between fairway and rough is the rough is taller. Same type of grass in fairway as tough. Erosion patches in fairways. Hit a drive in the fairway and have to find a patch of grass to sit the ball on. I purchased at Hot Deal for $35 and didn’t feel it was even worth that. I play about twice a week and have played other courses in FAR better shape than this one for about $10 more than the Hot Deal. Would not recommend if you’re even a half serious golfer. Serious golfer, definitely not.
Great course , keeps up interest levels
Great course , wide fairways with sufficient obstacles and dog legs built into the mix. Nice roll on the greens. Will visit again !
Broke 80s , enjoyed thoroughly
Repair your divots!
Relatively short course from the blues and very forgiving of those wayward tee shots. Fairways and tee boxes in relatively good condition but the greens were divot ridden, really don’t understand why people can’t repair their divots?!
Good fun course to play with the boys, will be playing again
Great round
This course is generally busy, I expect to be patient. But Sunday morning had perfect weather and I was bookended with players moving at the same speed.
I shot my best round!
Eh
Staff was really friendly but this simply is not a nice course especially for what you pay. It should be like 15 dollars. Too much for this course, which is in pretty poor condition
