Great staff and great course!
This seems to be a golf course of all skill levels with the amenities of pro clubs. Very forgiving layout with just enough risk/reward on their long par 5’s. Very confidence inspiring for someone who shoots in the mid 90’s. I would still play this golf course regularly even if my game improved drastically. Convenient location and very accommodating staff. Thank you!
Greens absolutely Must be addressed
Back 9 greens are the possibly the worst on Planet Earth. Ball craters into mud and probably stimp to a 3. Absolutely needs to be addressed but RGA refuses to do anything. I hope tree removal and bermuda greens somehow find their way to this lot.
Much Improved
This course is getting better year after year. The front nine is in good condition and the other 2 nine hole tracks are in fair condition. The layout is fun and shorter holes make it easier to hit your approach shots in. Great for the money.
Friendly staff, bad greens
You may as well just pick up once your on the green. Fun short course otherwise and the staff is very friendly.
Wanted to decide for myself
I read some of the reviews after I booked the course on Golf now. Unfortunately the comments about the poor greens were true. I would hope someone who is in charge of the course reads the reviews and takes them to heart because with the right ingredients this course could flourish
Greens are horrific!!!!
Waste of time. Greens were terrible! Not at all worth playing!!!
Very Pleasant Experience
This is actually my 2nd time playing. Forgot to review the first. Very nice little track. The front has very open fairways & greens in very good condition. Back is much tighter, more challenging & a couple of greens have air circulation problems due to being surrounded by woods on 3 sides and leads to greens being thinner. I will definitely return. Overall a very pleasurable experience.
Not worth the money.
Paid good money at a discounted price so I'm assuming the normal price is more than I paid. Wow, greens and tee boxes were absolutely horrible and visibly ignored. Pitch marks are a players responsibility but cracked green and unlevel tee boxes that could cause a mechanical ankle injury is just plain wrong. I play recreationally and shouldn't have to worry about twisting my ankle because of unlevel tee box. 18 tee boxes and 18 greens and over 70% of both were simply pitted. Golfer Beware!
Great Golfing
I golfed with my husband and we both thoroughly enjoyed our play. The staff was very friendly. The starter most helpful, we definitely will play again soon.
good course,, greens bad for the most part.
RGA has been in raleigh since 1929 as a golf course. Over the years it has been updated and thing added and changed.
the one thing that has not changed in the past 10 or more years is the bent grass green. RGA is one of the and most likely the only courses in the Raleigh with Bent grass greens in use today.. Other has gone to the heat resistant mini verde grass greens.
RGA greens are showing the black mold that is not a good sign for the health of the greens and some have large bare spots on them. . Between the hot humid days and sometimes buckets of rain the bent grass green is not able to hold up to the riggers of heavy play like they get.
Very disappointing
I have driven by RGA many times and always wanted to play there so I decided to go play with one of my buddies today and try it out. Man what a bad decision that was. $32 is way over priced for the round. The greens were absolutely horrendous, I can live with not great tee boxes and fairways for the most part, but I hate bad greens and man were they bad. They had crabgrass all over them, some had what looked like root rot, just not very well kept up. I don’t recommend this course to anyone except maybe a family outing if you don’t care about conditions of the greens. Easy layout but they need to fix the course up quick.
