About
Dan Maples, architect of the nationally acclaimed Pit Golf Links, has created another masterpiece only minutes from the Village of Pinehurst. Longleaf Golf & Family Club was formerly the site of Starland Farms, for years the training ground of some of the country's top thoroughbreds. As a tribute to its colorful history, Maples incorporated some of the features and flavor of the old facility into the golf course, including part of the fence and training track. The front nine at Longleaf was designed in the Scottish open style with subtly rolling fairways. The back nine, in contrast, is heavily tree-lined and dramatically elevated. Ron Whitten of Golf Digest called Longleaf "...the most playable course in Pinehurst."

January golf! What could be better?
Everything dormant except greens which were painted green for contrast and perhaps hit with a little nitrogen BUT fantastic! Fun layout, challenging from back tees, true rolling putts and fast for January! They are cleaning out a lot of brushy and rough areas so spring golf here will be nice. I live across the street so it’s one of my regular stops.
Great Pinehurst course
Really enjoyed my round here. Played with my 14 year old son and relatives from Boston. Gave a great taste of what to expect with a Pinehurst course. Heavy rain night.before but the course was in excellent condition and drained well. People working here were great. Looking forward to returning
Great for our group of 12
Had 12 guys/3 groups and played a scramble. Super fun course with houses pretty tight to the fairways. Enjoyed the family friendly vibe, and staff was very accommodating for our group. Definitely recommend.
Nice course, slow members
Been a few years since I played Longleaf but enjoyed the addition of the newer waste bunkers. Made it more of a “Pinehurst” feel. Layout on front nine is better than back. Was frustrated with pace of play. Being a teaching course, kids and instructors were everywhere.
great course
Longleaf is an excellent course. Great sevice and very good practice areas.
Great place to play, I wish the bar/restaurant was open more frequently.
G&D’s Golf Vac
Very interesting course with wide variety of holes . Course was in good shape and the best since we played it several years ago. Love the racetrack feeling. Staff was very friendly. We definitely will return!
