About
Dan Maples, architect of the nationally acclaimed Pit Golf Links, has created another masterpiece only minutes from the Village of Pinehurst. Longleaf Golf & Family Club was formerly the site of Starland Farms, for years the training ground of some of the country's top thoroughbreds. As a tribute to its colorful history, Maples incorporated some of the features and flavor of the old facility into the golf course, including part of the fence and training track. The front nine at Longleaf was designed in the Scottish open style with subtly rolling fairways.The back nine, in contrast, is heavily tree-lined and dramatically elevated. Ron Whitten of Golf Digest called Longleaf "...the most playable course in Pinehurst."

Tee-off
Good idea to use numbers instead of colors. You choose your number (1 to 7) depending on your driving distance.
In spite of no overseeding for the winter and cart paths that are deteriorating, this is a great track with good variety, an excellent layout and very nice quick greens…can be played from 7 different tees for all ages and abilities.
Played in 4 hours with my wife and 2 nice guys from Gollfnow… a fair amount of elevation change, water only on one or two holes… we live in Wisconsin and stop off in So. Pines on the way to Fl… this area has so much golf at all price points
Longleaf spring conditiins
Great value and course played in 3.5 hours and spring conditions so grass was dormant but was still good conditions
Cold day in February
Course in good shape even with harsh weather so far in 2022. Played with son, he has college tournament in March. Old horse railings very cool and layout was fair.
Cooler than usual
If not for the cooler temperatures and wind out of the NNW, would’ve been a decent day for golf. Heavy rain the night before so some areas were wetter than usual. Course still in good shape in my opinion. Enjoy playing here.
Fun course
Was a great course to play very enjoyable obviously fairways dormant but in good shape greens were perfect.
Good layout, played from tee box #5 which for our group was the right tee box. Greens were quick and tricky to putt, but rolled true. If you missed the fairway there were some areas that were very difficult due to the rough or grasses growing off the fairway. The remnants of the old horse track was a neat nod to the areas history, Good practice areas.
The struggle was real
So many hidden holes tucked , you really need different shape shots on most holes … tough day for me out there
Good Course
Course was in great shape. Greens are super fast putts run true. Tight fairways. Layout is a lot a Scottish course. Do not hit out of fairways. The grass is that tall grass that is hard or near about impossible to hit out of. Very friendly staff .
