About
Dan Maples, architect of the nationally acclaimed Pit Golf Links, has created another masterpiece only minutes from the Village of Pinehurst. Longleaf Golf & Family Club was formerly the site of Starland Farms, for years the training ground of some of the country's top thoroughbreds. As a tribute to its colorful history, Maples incorporated some of the features and flavor of the old facility into the golf course, including part of the fence and training track. The front nine at Longleaf was designed in the Scottish open style with subtly rolling fairways.The back nine, in contrast, is heavily tree-lined and dramatically elevated. Ron Whitten of Golf Digest called Longleaf "...the most playable course in Pinehurst."

Enjoyed the course
You know there are so many choices in Pinehurst and you want to play decent courses at decent prices. This was one of them and I would play again.
Enjoyed our round very much
Great day!!! From the time we arrived til we left, staff was very welcoming. Play got a little slow, starter came out and moved a group ahead one hole to pick up pace. Met a lot of really nice folks, including the twosome we were paired with. 7 sets of tees, so whatever your skill level, you have a good test. Loved it, will be back
Awesome
This place is awesome. Great staff, nice clubhouse, very nice course. Greens roll well and even with 3+ inches of rain the past 48 hours the course was in great shape and not very wet at all. This is a great place if you have children as well as they are very focused on children’s golf and US Kids golf. Ready for another chance to play.
Excellent Condition
Longleaf was in excellent condition. Looking forward to playing it again now that we are more familiar with the greens.
Tee assessment good idea.
Glad this course has tee assessment options. More golfers need to use it. Pro Shop guy was a little patronizing with 2 females suggesting we use short yardage. Get range balls and check it out.We picked the correct tees. Great day.
Enjoyable high handicapper course
I ended up playing as a single as the twosome I was paired with wanted to play alone due to COVID concerns. With 7 tee boxes, the pace was super fast. I passed up a twosome and was the lead player, finished in 2:45, and felt rushed! The twosome behind me were playing off the 3500 yard tee box so they were really quick! (I was playing the "4.5" which is about 5200 yards.
The course was in very good condition. The design layout is just ok, but it is geared towards newer players and seniors. Greens were fast. Bunkers were a little uneven.
I will definitely play again, and am considering a membership.

Enjoyed the round
Course is in great shape. Their association with US Kids has really pumped some money into the course. 7 sets of tees so it's a course for all levels. Nice mix of flat, open holes with up/down hill, tree-lined holes. I'd definitely play here again!
First time
The clubhouse was nice, or at least the portion we were able to see due to restrictions because of COVID 19. Staff was very pleasant. The course was great and we will play there again soon.
