Resort Course at Talamore Golf Resort is a Rees Jones masterpiece that was nominated as "Best New Public Course of the Year" when opened and has become a regular stop for annual returnees to Pinehurst.

The centuries-old tradition of using llamas to help humans carry packs has been revived with a new twist at Talamore. These gentle, hardy animals can carry two bags of clubs with ease and sure-footedness. Their soft padded feet are kind to the delicate surfaces of a golf course. Known for their friendly and quiet manners, llamas make the perfect caddies. Now you can treat yourself and your friends to a truly distinctive golf experience.

Great course and layout...bring your sand wedge

They over seed in the winter so course was is pretty good condition in March with all the cold weather they have had. Very challenging and worth it to play. Got a great rate on golf now and will add it to our tour stop. Great staff and gave us some knowledge before we played. One last thing this course will test your bunker skills if you miss the greena because almost every hole has bunkers on 2 or 3 sides.

Great course prior to Pinehurst!

Myself and 3 others were very lucky to get invited by a Pinehurst member to come and play #2 course. We wanted to play a good course the day prior in order to prepare. Talamore definitely fit the bill! Great course and super friendly staff made our day enjoyable. The weather was chilly but sunny and the course was in great shape. We all really enjoyed it. We loved the llamas and the Augusta connection with the logo. The GolfNow rate I was able to secure made this extremely affordable. Thanks Talamore and GolfNow!

Great course with a wonderful layout!

The only negative thing I can say about my experience was that the greens were not healed completely from aeration that we did not know about. The course was challenging and fun for everyone. We had a great time.

Conflicted opinion

The course was pretty challenging, lots of greenside bunkers. The fairways were pretty well maintained, actually, very well maintained. My problem was that it was cart path only that day and, judging from the signage, it's almost always 90 degree rule. The pace of play was glacial. Got a round for $19 on Golf Now which is great but I left after nine holes took 2 1/2 hours and was going to be even slower in the back. It was cold out and I was tensing up waiting on every tee box for 10 minutes.

Not worthy of "resort" prices if you live in the area...but GREAT course!

I am from the area so I am not looking for the fabled "Pinehurst Experience." The rack rate for this course is crazy to me, but then again I will rarely drop over $50 for golf. I play this course whenever I can find a last minute deal at 50 or below.

That being said, this is wonderfully laid out and challenging course. Not so challenging that you work hard all day, but you have to be concerned with shot placement from tee to green. A good mixture of long par 4s and reachable par 5s.

The staff is freindly and outgoing and the facilities are excellent.

Solid course

The greens had recently been punched, otherwise, the course was in pretty good condition. Excessive mounding in fairways and around greens makes for unique experience.

Good layout for a good price.

Talamore is a very nice course. The design and variety are good. The greens are fairly large and can offer some severely breaking and speedy putts. The sand is consistent and playable. The par 3s are varied in length and well designed. Par 5s are varied in length and difficulty. Hole 1 is a fairly tough par 5 to start a round on, but the others are much easier to negotiate. Par 4s are well designed and varied in length too. Hole 18 is a great finishing hole with a drive over water and a mid to long iron into the green. The staff was great. A golfnow price of $49 for this place was a good deal for mid-March. Will definitely play again!

great greens, no crowds, courteous service.

Played as a twosome in well under four hours. Greens rolled true and smooth. Always love playing here, as well as Talamore's sister course across the road (Mid South Club). In fact, I like this place so much I bought a villa unit here, Never gets old. Different tees represent all the challenge any golfer could ask for. It's a good thing the bunkers are well maintained, because there are a bunch of them, both guarding the fairways and the greens.

Excellant Sandhills golf course

Played on a sunny Wednesday, 65*. Course is classic Sandhills golf course. Winter Rye was somewhat sparse but still provided great lies in the fairway. Greens were in very good to excellant condition. Played as a single in 3 hrs. Staff were excellant. A great course to play and if you get a golfnow rate you can't beat it.Drove from Cary, less than 70 minute drive. Will play there again soon!

Sand Everywhere

I had played this course many years ago. Nothing much has changed since then, which is a good thing. Course was in good shape and greens were rolling very smoothly and moderately fast. There is sand everywhere though...be very mindful of the bunkers as they are very plentiful. Overall a great experience for the money!

Many great views.

This course is very challenging with all the elevation changes. Fairways are wide but you must hit your targets to get a good shot in to the greens. Would play this again in a heartbeat.

Very nice course

We enjoyed our round at Talamore. The staff was excellent, just fantastic.

We got there about 45 minutes early for a 12:44 tee time and we did get to tee off a little early which was great.

The course was in excellent condition. The greens were superb. I really enjoyed the round. I played the white tees, if I went back I would probably move back a tee box for myself.

The course was supercrowded. They had just overseeded and it was cart path only. There really was no solution, it was what it was. We played the front nine again after the turn which was a solution for us and got our round in on time. If we played the back, I doubt we would have finished before dark.

My only regret is not getting to see their trademark llamas on the 14th hole!

Good Course IF you get a hot deal on the price.

With a Hot Deal Price, this course is worth playing, but it could use some improving if it is to be the Championship Course that it claims to be. The staff was friendly and we were let go in a timely fashion, slightly ahead of our scheduled tee time. The carts are new but they are not GPS equipped. Unfortunately, they had just seeded the fairways and we were forced to stay on the cart paths which led to a lot of walking and this is a lot of course. Also, the cart paths in some places were kind of rough and some paths between holes were just sand paths. Signage on the course is poor and the scorecard offers little info beyond overall yardage, but sprinkler heads are marked. The on-course facilities was a single portapotty on each nine for both him and her with no sanitary lotion or hand washing capabilities (not very good for a " high-end" course). The layout is good and challenging yet not difficult. The greens were quite large and ran fast and true. Nice strategically placed sand bunkers, but some were wet and some weren't. Rough was woolly and captured your ball on any short shots. All in all, fun to play, IF the price is right.
