Talamore Golf Resort
About
Resort Course at Talamore Golf Resort is a Rees Jones masterpiece that was nominated as "Best New Public Course of the Year" when opened and has become a regular stop for annual returnees to Pinehurst.
The centuries-old tradition of using llamas to help humans carry packs has been revived with a new twist at Talamore. These gentle, hardy animals can carry two bags of clubs with ease and sure-footedness. Their soft padded feet are kind to the delicate surfaces of a golf course. Known for their friendly and quiet manners, llamas make the perfect caddies. Now you can treat yourself and your friends to a truly distinctive golf experience.

Golfer Reviews
Great Layout
I played Talamore with my wife. I think Talamore deserves a Mulligan in this case. We have had some tremendous amounts of rain and I believe this was reflecting the poor course conditions. But, I am doing this review based on what the course was like when we played. The fairways haven't been mowed in awhile, it was like hitting out of the rough. I'm certain that's because they could not cut them due to the wetness. The tee boxes were mixed, some were in good shape but others needed attention. The greens were in pretty good shape , a little on the slow side. The course has a great layout and is challenging. The first is a wicked par 5-600+ yards, I played the Blue Tees. And the last 4 holes were difficult finishing holes. I wish this course would have been in good condition because it has great potential. I hope to come back when its dry. One other thing, my wife loved the Llama's off the 14th tee box. Overall, I would really like to play this course again under better conditions.
Pinehurst Favorite
This is my group's 12th year to Pinehurst, having played Talamore every year. Since we stay in the on site condos, it has become our final day course. This course is always in great shape and this year was no exception. The greens were in perfect shape and the fairways were plush. Talamore has become my favorite Pinehurst course. It is not the most challenging nor the most picturesque, but it is a great test of your ability from any tees and always pristine. Put it on your must play list.
Excellent value
Course was in amazing condition, something that is expected of a Pinehurst area course. Staff was friendly, although the Marshall about had a fit because we were 2 minutes late. The only downside was there were golfers outside drinking that were unnecessarily loud. They could be heard throughout the entire back 9. Overall a very enjoyable day and course.
The course has a nice layout
I really like this course as it is fairly open. A missed tee shot does not always mean a lost ball. The greens were a little slow but in great shape.
Great Value on 4.5 Star Course
Very enjoyable round. Excellent layout. Challenging but fair. Greens were mint condition and alot of fun to putt on. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a great course at a good price.
Fun for all levels of golfing
This course allows you to set your challenge. Forward tees are well placed and designed to make par. Senior tees allow the player some challenge but very reasonable carry yardage. Greens were in superior shape and good speed.
Pro shop has nice variety of golfing attire at reasonable prices.
Lunch was a treat great tuna & chicken salad.
Llama's still by the 14th hole.
Great golfing experience
Talamore was an unbelievable experience. From the time we opened our trunk for the cart attendant until the time we teed off, the staff was totally committed to ensuring a great day of golf. The course was in exceptional condition and had just the right blend of easy and difficult holes. Talamore should definitely be on everyone's must play courses.
Great challenge
I play often and was very happy about the course. My only complaint would be relatively recent aeration of the greens which made them very slow and inconsistent. It would be good to know when the recent aberrations have been. This would impact my selection of which course to play
BEST out of 6 courses in the area.
I cannot find fault in any of the features of this golf course. The greens were exceptional, the fairways and tee boxes are also in great shape. The bunkers had plenty of sand and well maintained. I just LOVE this course. I have played others in the area and for the money , this course offered the best in the area. I would definately play again and again.
Course was in great shape.
Greens were perfect. If you had the read, you made the putt.
Talamore
Excellent course! In fantastic shape! Challenging and the best maintained fairways and greens I have seen in a while.A few carry's and plenty of sand. Highly recommend.
Outstanding Golfing Experience
This was a great golf experience. The course was in great shape, friendly staff and excellent pace of play. Looking forward to playing this course again.
Great course and layout...bring your sand wedge
They over seed in the winter so course was is pretty good condition in March with all the cold weather they have had. Very challenging and worth it to play. Got a great rate on golf now and will add it to our tour stop. Great staff and gave us some knowledge before we played. One last thing this course will test your bunker skills if you miss the greena because almost every hole has bunkers on 2 or 3 sides.
Great course prior to Pinehurst!
Myself and 3 others were very lucky to get invited by a Pinehurst member to come and play #2 course. We wanted to play a good course the day prior in order to prepare. Talamore definitely fit the bill! Great course and super friendly staff made our day enjoyable. The weather was chilly but sunny and the course was in great shape. We all really enjoyed it. We loved the llamas and the Augusta connection with the logo. The GolfNow rate I was able to secure made this extremely affordable. Thanks Talamore and GolfNow!
Great course with a wonderful layout!
The only negative thing I can say about my experience was that the greens were not healed completely from aeration that we did not know about. The course was challenging and fun for everyone. We had a great time.
Conflicted opinion
The course was pretty challenging, lots of greenside bunkers. The fairways were pretty well maintained, actually, very well maintained. My problem was that it was cart path only that day and, judging from the signage, it's almost always 90 degree rule. The pace of play was glacial. Got a round for $19 on Golf Now which is great but I left after nine holes took 2 1/2 hours and was going to be even slower in the back. It was cold out and I was tensing up waiting on every tee box for 10 minutes.
Not worthy of "resort" prices if you live in the area...but GREAT course!
I am from the area so I am not looking for the fabled "Pinehurst Experience." The rack rate for this course is crazy to me, but then again I will rarely drop over $50 for golf. I play this course whenever I can find a last minute deal at 50 or below.
That being said, this is wonderfully laid out and challenging course. Not so challenging that you work hard all day, but you have to be concerned with shot placement from tee to green. A good mixture of long par 4s and reachable par 5s.
The staff is freindly and outgoing and the facilities are excellent.
Solid course
The greens had recently been punched, otherwise, the course was in pretty good condition. Excessive mounding in fairways and around greens makes for unique experience.
Good layout for a good price.
Talamore is a very nice course. The design and variety are good. The greens are fairly large and can offer some severely breaking and speedy putts. The sand is consistent and playable. The par 3s are varied in length and well designed. Par 5s are varied in length and difficulty. Hole 1 is a fairly tough par 5 to start a round on, but the others are much easier to negotiate. Par 4s are well designed and varied in length too. Hole 18 is a great finishing hole with a drive over water and a mid to long iron into the green. The staff was great. A golfnow price of $49 for this place was a good deal for mid-March. Will definitely play again!
challenging yet fair, great course
course is in great condition, staff friendly and great rates through Golf Now.com
For the Pinehurst area, go to greenreadernow.com. It is maintained by a caddie in the area. There is a link that shows the aeration schedule for most local courses.
