Winding Creek Golf Club
About
Winding Creek Golf Club in Thomasville is an 18-hole municipal course that is one of the most affordable rounds in the area. It is a regulation-length layout that measures 6,367 yards from the tips. The design is a true target-golf test that is player friendly enough for beginners but will also challenge more advanced players. The golf course is perched atop one of the highest points in Davidson County. From elevated tees and greens you can enjoy dramatic views as well as some intimidating shots. It's a golf course that will most likely have you using every club in your bag. Though there is plenty of variety, the course isn't too formidable for high handicappers. In addition to the golf course, Winding Creek also has a putting green and driving range that you can use for warming up.

I just wanted to play by myself.
The greens were a bit in need of a good mow and rolling. It’s a municipal course that is played by every level of golfer. A lot of those golfers do not know how to treat a green. It is what I rated it as, average..
Must Visit! Best Muni Around
I was born and raised 20 miles from this course and have never really heard of it in 31 years... that is until last week when I played here for the first time with my friend and young son (age 3). From the moment we arrived, we could tell the course was meticulously maintained and in great shape. Greens were plugged recently, but were overall in great shape. Not spongy, not burned, not long or too soft.... just good normal greens. Fringe was spectular and was consistently maintained on every hole. The course is hillier than I expected (hillier than winston lakes IMO) and challenging from the whites or the blues. The hills make this seemingly open field into a challenging, closed off and secluded course. Benches are located throught the course. Water stations were everywhere and the water was ice cold, and cups were at each station... brand new bathroom on the far side of the course that services the front and back side... carts went fast and were clean. There are blind shots on this course, but the distance stakes are consistently lined up with the pin to help with direction and the fairways are perfectly distinguishable from the rough. The course was really in impressive shape all around.
The best part of Winding Creek isn't the course, but rather the staff. The owner/bartender was gracious immediately upon arrival. She gave my son an ice pop out of generosity on the hot day. They were not strict or annoyed by any of our questions or requests and made every effort to make us feel comfortable. The same lady made our food fresh on the grill and gave us tips to get the best bang for our buck with their specials on alcohol and food. She made every effort to make us happy!
Highly recommend coming here ASAP!
Another hidden gem
Played for first time and for Florida Flatlanders the course kicked our butts! But we really enjoyed it. Course was in good shape, greens putt very well. Very good value. Would definitely recommend.
Raincheck
Today it rained so I only played 9 holes so I asked for a raincheck for 9 holes but they very rudely told me to get it from Golf Now. I will never go to that golf course again through GolfNow.
Allowed me to book and took my money but gave no notice they were closed prior.
Be sure to call ahead before booking at this course. They allowed me to schedule my tee time for 5:53PM and upon arrival today at 5:43, I was stopped by a giant gate not allowing me access because they had closed with no notice. I will not be coming back, nor recommending others to this course. This is something very unprofessional and needs to be addressed. There were other cars out here as well confused why no one received notice of the closing. Drove 20 miles to this course for this?
Pars, Birdies, and Sunburns
Played one of the hottest rounds of golf in the history of the game. I think I saw a chicken lay an omelet on the one par three. And as we were leaving, there was a dude on his back porch shucking popcorn. That being said, the course was in remarkable shape considering the heat wave that came in the week prior. Greens and tee boxes were well maintained and taken care of. Overall layout was incredible, but a little challenging for a first-timer, considering the number of blind shots. There were water stations scattered around the course, which was a lifesaver. Most courses wouldn't have taken the time to do that for the players. Will be back
Hidden gem
In town for a clinic, booked a $26 Hot Deal and had no idea. Pulling in you pass an old church and graveyard that has seen better days, but this is no indication of the course. Pulling in I first noticed the course was GREEN! The gentleman at the desk was beyond nice and offered several tips about the course, even gave us a free yardage book. We played the white tees at 5600 yards. It has a fairly open lay out, with a few tight tee shots. The greens were soft, plush, receptive, while still rolling at a decent (slower end) pace. We were overly pleased and surprised. Look forward to visiting again!
Course in great condition considering how dry it has been
Play here a couple times a year. They keep making improvements. Will be back
Challenging Course
Course knowledge is definitely key. Lots of blind shots. Great challenge
Excellent Course and Layout
Took my son to play this course today and we both really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Called in our food order on #9 and it was ready at the turn. Excellent food and snacks. Good prices. Greens were amazing. Fairways and rough was well groomed. Overall, I'd give this course for the money, an A+. Have already called several friends and told them they need to give it a round. I will certainly be back.
Nice Course
Course was in great shape. Fairways were green and smooth. Greens rolled true but were a little slower than I am used to in South Carolina. I will always place here when I visit the grandson.
