About
Deercroft Golf Club is located just 20 minutes South of Pinehurst has twice been the site for PGA qualifying schools as well as PGA Senior tour qualifying events. Readers of golfweek have voted Deercroft one of "America's Best Courses" for six consecutive years.
The course features lush fairways, manicured bent-grass greens and views that are out-of-this world.
Probably because of the few extra minutes' drive necessary to reach the course, the green fees are among the most reasonable in the area, especially when you consider the quality of the golf.

Golfer Reviews
great experience
The course is a little remote but not difficult to find. For this time of the year, the condition was very good. No complaints. Friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful greens!
First time playing here in several years. Great staff have greatly improved the entire course and made it one of the best in the area. The tee boxes and especially the greens were absolutely beautiful. They were the best I've played this year. A little out of the way but worth the drive.
Fun Sunday at Deercroft
The first few holes require well placed shots as the fairways on the front nine are noticeably narrower than those on the back nine. Par 3s are very interesting mostly due to the elevation changes. Most golfers will score better on the back nine as it seems more forgiving.
Deercroft
The course was barren with very little green grass. The course was extremely hard packed despite rain the previous two days. I was most disappointed with the course. The only plus was the person taking our money, she was friendly, helpful and personable. I would not play this tract again.
Deercroft Visit
Greens were nice and rolled very well, fairways and rough still dormant, bunkers needed some work. Still my son and I enjoyed ourselves, spent the day and did 45 holes. Before playing got a rundown on course from owner Ted Robinson on certain holes and very important tip, after pegging the yardage, adding a club and two uphill, helped with the rest of our stay in Southern Pines. Also we liked the back nine better.
Deercroft
Picture perfect day to play golf. Looking at the reviews,we thought this course would be in better condition than we found it to be. No overseeding done, which we were use to coming to the Pinehurst area this time of year.Layout was good, but no holes had that wow factor.A number of cart paths had washed out areas and are in need of repair. Not sure the last time the bunkers were attended. The friendliness of the staff and the bent grass greens were a plus. With so many other courses in the area, will look elsewhere next time in Pinehurst.
Gem of a course
I live in Pinehurst, NC. Home to US Open mens and women's golf championships. Its a mecca for any golfer looking to play great courses. It's historic and always a MUST PLAY destination. I live among three of the numbered courses in the town.
I prefer to play at Deercroft every chance I get. I'm not paying resort prices, but I'm getting better than resort quality golf on a course that is scenic, challenging, but not gimmicky or tricked up. Too many courses rely on that in this area. Deercroft isn't one of these. They have the best staff by far in the region, and I play many courses as part of an Amateur Tour.
Come play here, you won't be disappointed.
This course is beautiful.
The golf course has great fairways and the greens rolls true. The staff is great and the price to play is affordable that you can enjoy mentally the game. Lol
Very nice course
Had a great time playing the course. No hidden hazards. Very fair. Greens and fairways were excellent. Nice layout. Lady in the Pro Shop was very friendly and helpful. She even greeted us after our round and inquired about any problems we encountered. They have some local rules that keep play smooth and quick. Will return to play the course again.
hidden gem
I really like this course. Its fair ways have up and down right and left Pinehurst style fairway bunkers very nice. Green shapes very nice but little bit slow pro. Pro shop staff is very kind.I will come back soon
Course is coming back to life
Ted and his staff are doing a great job bringing back this course. I have played here in the past and it was in bad shape. The changes they have made are great. They took a lot of trees out and the natural areas are very pleasing to the eye. It is not an easy course, but it is fun. I really enjoyed my round and will be back in the near future. Keep up the good work.
Great value all around.
Most enjoyable round of the five during our stay in Pinehurst area. Staff was over the top friendly and most helpful. We will return here every time we are in the area.
Play Here!!!!
This course is great for any caliber of golfer. The layout is fun and beautiful to look at. Staff are extremely helpful and make your experience worth while. I could not help but think it is like playing the restored pinehurst number 2. Play this course. TRUST ME!! Deercroft is the sandhills best kept secret.
Great find in The Sndhills.
We picked this course off of Golf now as I was driving to SC later in the day and this was well on the way from our home in Vass. We were met by a very friendly fellow from Boston (I didn't catch his name). He was very informative about the course. Next we met Ted, he too was very pleasant and helpful. We really enjoyed this course, it was week taken care of and interesting. We will definitely be back to play again.
GREAT FIND
Just returned from our annual trip to the Sandhills, decided this year to venture down the road to play Deercroft and are extremely glad we did. We were met in pro shop by the Head Professional Ted Robinson, a true pleasure to say the least. The time he took to brief us of his course before we teed it up was very informative and actually got us excited to test the layout.
The layout was better than he described.
All I can say is go give it a try, you will find the same.
Ted has recently taken over the course and made many improvements, we look forward to playing it again next trip, as we will make it a must play every year.
What A Deal
Great Course, Great Staff, Great Deal. Truly a Pinehurst-style golf experience with the scrub on the sides of the holes and some great bunkering. Peaceful experience without many homes on the course - most holes with no homes at all. Great elevation changes to keep things interesting.
